"Education plays an important role in the upbringing of students. In order to ensure a bright future for our future Malaysians, schools are striving to provide proper education to our youth, ensuring that they develop the fundamental skillsets necessary for their growth.
However, many may wonder about the state of our education system in Malaysia over the past few years. The former Education Minister, Fadhlina Sidek, previously stated that our curriculum is comparable to countries like Japan and Singapore. The syllabus for students in Primary 1-3 aims to help them master basic skills in mathematics, reading, reasoning, and writing.

Now the question is how true is this and is our education system deemed &ldquo;too complicated&rdquo; for our youth?
Malaysian Teacher Takes 1 Hour To Explain 2 Math Questions
Mohd Fadli a teacher with over 690K followers on Facebook recently took <a href="https://www.facebook.com/xbgsx666/posts/pfbid0Z6rxuhbXFFnj2ae5rQ1YZX1uDjp5wSHN7VVpq1Nc4y9DeZApkMdYSZiNLLCFYDjYl">to social media</a> to share his struggles of explaining two maths questions to his 9-year-old student along with an image of the question.

In his post, he revealed that during a lesson in school, he spent an hour explaining the question to a class of 38 students. Although with all the effort put in to teach them, the final outcome revealed that only 4 students had managed to properly understand the question. To add on, he also provided the students tips while guiding them to answer the question.
This later prompted a question if it would be possible for those who drafted out the syllabus to come down to the school themselves and see if they know how to guide a class of 38-45 students to answer the question.

Given the perspective that it&rsquo;s a question designed for 9-year-olds, it shouldn&rsquo;t be too hard right? According to the picture, the question asked the students to find the difference between the number of people that went to a fruit festival and the difference of pearls based on an amount given by two other boxes.
Fadli also pointed out that our government has forgotten to compare the difference in the number of students in the developed countries and how many facilities they have in comparison to us in Malaysia which has not changed in the last 15 years.
Suggestions For Improvement

Fadli does not doubt that the curriculum is high quality, however, he&rsquo;s concerned about how will the students will cope with the syllabus in the long run. With that being said, he has given some suggestions on how the government can tackle the issue.

<li>To have a class of 20-25 students for better focus.</li>
<li>To extend learning times for Mathematics to at least 10 hours weekly compared to the current 5 hours.</li>
<li>To improve school facilities and infrastructure to facilitate learning sessions.</li>

There was a various mix of comments from those stating they themselves have issues teaching their own children to the concern of how uneducated parents can help their children&rsquo;s learning progression. Though off-topic, one netizen also highlighted that the syllabus for those in Form 4 and 5 are almost as if it&rsquo;s for university instead.
Another concern that&rsquo;s happening thanks to the syllabus is that students are now losing interest in the subject due to how difficult it is for them. By mitigating the issue, hopefully, students will struggle less with solving maths problems and will have a brighter future ahead.

Looks like controversial comedian Jocelyn Chia is back online as she&rsquo;s gained access to her Instagram account again.
Yesterday, we stated that her social media pages have been blacked out as it was rumoured that she had been banned from them. While she wasn&rsquo;t online, many including Harith Iskander and the wife of one of the victims on board have voiced out their opinions about her comedic act of insulting the MH370 tragedy. Even the Singapore High Commissioner To Malaysia issued an apology on social media due to her insensitive joke.

Dismisses Suspension For Being &ldquo;Cancelled&rdquo;

The first thing Chia did when she got her account back was to post up an Instagram story as she addressed the rumours of her account being blacked out. &ldquo;Rumour had it that I either deleted my Instagram or that I got &lsquo;cancelled&rsquo; by Instagram. My account actually got suspended for &lsquo;impersonating&rsquo; a celebrity.&rdquo;
&ldquo;I was like, &lsquo;who is the celebrity? Answer: Jocelyn Chia,&rdquo; while adding Famous by Kanye West for her story audio of choice (another cancelled celebrity).

Aside from addressing the rumours on her social media, Chia also took the opportunity to thank the comedy community who supported her despite the backlash she was facing. One of them was Malaysian comedian Jason Leong who was also bashed by other Malaysians after he showed support for her act.

Following the story, she took a hit at her &ldquo;exes&rdquo; which many presume to be angry Malaysians and joked by using Taylor Swift&rsquo;s &lsquo;We Are Never Getting Back Together&rsquo; as her song choice. To put an end to her post, she also thanked the non-binary comedians and joked that she would &ldquo;really get cancelled&rdquo; if she hasn&rsquo;t done so.
No Public Apology In Sight
After all the hate posts of her online, Chia has yet to post a public apology as the former Singaporean does not look like she has any remorse. Since then, Singapore&rsquo;s Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan has also issued an apology after replying to Syed Saddiq on Twitter.

Jocelyn Chia Is Back On IG, Denies Being “Cancelled” And Has Yet To Apologise For Her Joke

Having a family go missing is one of the most concerning things anyone could ever face. But the worse part of it all is knowing that they are still alive but forced to work as piglets (someone of low financial and social status into indentured servitude).
Recently, 22-year-old beautician Angie Chong Sum Yee went on a trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand alone and had since gone missing.

The last time her family had heard from her was on 1 June when she sent photos of her travelling towards the northernmost district Mae Sai in the Chang Rai province which has a history of human trafficking cases in the past.
After her mother had put up a post on Facebook to get assistance from the public, the Malaysian embassy in Thailand has been working closely with authorities to locate her. She was last seen leaving a location on a motorcycle with a woman dressed in white.

Video Of Angie Suddenly Appears On Facebook
In the days she was missing, her WeChat status had been updated stating she is safe and her location had also changed. This time, three suspicious videos of her were uploaded on Facebook by a new Facebook account that went by the name &ldquo;Moe Aye&rdquo;.
Now, here&rsquo;s the suspicious part, of the three videos uploaded, two of them were taken by a camera that filmed a phone playing a video of Angie.
As the videos are being reposted and shared everywhere, many netizens pointed out that Angie looks rather unnatural in the video as if she was forced to film it.

In the 34-second video, she said: &ldquo;Hello, hello. Actually, I am fine. I am very safe and healthy. I didn&rsquo;t get assaulted. So, my friends, family, and netizen, those who I don&rsquo;t know, please don&rsquo;t worry about me. I am very healthy.&rdquo;

In another 22-second video, it's seen that she was working at an undisclosed location.
&ldquo;I am working here now and I am safe. Please don&rsquo;t worry about me. I am extremely safe here. So police, please don&rsquo;t trouble the rider who gave me a ride. They don&rsquo;t know anything.&rdquo;

What was even more suspicious was that Angie&rsquo;s Instagram account has also posted &ldquo;updates&rdquo; stating that she is okay and has contacted her family. She also stated that all the videos seen on Facebook and websites about her were real.
No Rest Till She&rsquo;s Back Safely
Despite all the circulating videos, Angie&rsquo;s mother Chee Choy Wen said on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/choywon0914/posts/pfbid0uQ9uwTWiLwGgvGwHUZ3AcfhcbnvXnG15iUMJMSKf7rXSXD1hdX2TqwLjFsvMahBCl">Facebook</a> that she will get to the bottom of this and told the members of the public not to trust the videos posted online as she has not seen her in person nor heard from her yet.
Hopefully, authorities will be able to track her down soon enough. A reminder that human trafficking is not a joke and despite all efforts, it&rsquo;s still difficult for authorities to locate the hundreds if not thousands of others who have also gone missing over the years.

If you&rsquo;re looking to get a specific time slot, Alena says that the best time to book appointments is at 12am or early morning as it seems that they refresh their appointment times during those hours. After securing your appointment, it&rsquo;s also best for you to show up 30 minutes earlier as you&rsquo;ll be prompted to check in using MySejahtera, obtain your queue number and get your blood pressure checked for only RM1.
After about 15 minutes, Alena was called to meet the dentist. She had a talk with her doctor addressing her concerns and stating which treatment she would like to get. She opted to have a general check-up and scaling. The highlight of the treatment was that it was all done within 10 minutes and she was in and out of the clinic within 30 minutes.
One thing she noted is that the doctor said she was lucky as there weren&rsquo;t a lot of patients that morning and the waiting and treatment time could have taken longer if there were a lot of people at the clinic that day.

Some netizens commented that most clinics do not update the schedule and some clinics will prompt you to physically walk in for an appointment. Others also commented that if you can&rsquo;t find an appointment after imputing a postcode, you can also try searching by city name or state.

For those who love binge-watching a series, you may know that lately, Disney+ has been on a roll as they have been releasing many different Star Wars series and, in all honesty, they have been way better than the movies they produced, more specifically Episode 7 till 9 of the Skywalker Saga.
This time around, Disney+ has set a primer date for the highly anticipated series, Star Wars Ahsoka as it will be releasing this August 23.

The upcoming series serves as a spin-off from The Mandalorian series. If you&rsquo;re new to the Star Wars franchise, the show takes place along the same timeline as The Mandalorian and as a pseudo-sequel to Star Wars: Rebels. Unlike the many characters we&rsquo;ve seen in the previous Star Wars series, Ahsoka is a character that goes way back to the prequels as she first appeared in Star Wars: Clone Wars cartoon before her story was continued in Star Wars: Rebels.

Her character was one of the most talked about characters out there as in previous iterations of the shows, we only saw an animated version of her until she appeared in Season 2 of The Mandalorian and the first season of The Book of Boba Fett.
Who Are The New Characters?
Now, since Ahsoka isn&rsquo;t a character like Din Djarin or Boba Fett who&rsquo;s covered in armour almost the majority of the time, she&rsquo;s one of the more unique characters in the franchise. In fact, Ahsoka will feature many characters who will be appearing in the live-action for the first time.

Ahsoka Tano will be played by Rosario Dawson who started in Marvel&rsquo;s Daredevil (2015-2017). Aside form that, the series will also be featuring stars such as Natashia Lui Bordizzo who plays Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, and Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger.&nbsp;

This time around, we&rsquo;ll also be seeing the debut of the franchise&rsquo;s notorious villain Grand Admiral Thrawn who is played by Lars Mikkelsen.
Do You Need To Watch Other Series To Understand Ahsoka?

Back during the Star Wars Celebration, executive producers Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau talked a bit about the series. Fans wondered if they needed to watch The Mandalorian Season 3 before heading into Ahsoka but Filoni revealed that fans can watch and enjoy them on their own. In fact, fans wouldn&rsquo;t even need to turn back to the old Clone Wars cartoon to understand her character.
Since the latest trailer only revealed the release date, you can check out their longer trailer which was released 2 months ago alongside more extras that we can expect this August 23.

Is The Arrival Of The Series Bad For Other Disney+ Series?

For those who may not know, Disney typically releases an episode every Wednesday on their platform as seen from other Star Wars series in the past. As the first episode is set to air on August 23, we will see a clash in the premier of another series.
Aksoka is set to have 8 episodes and the penultimate episode of Season 1 is set to arrive on 4 October, two days before the premiere of Loki Season 2 and the finale will be airing between the first and second episodes of Loki on October 11.
Though this does not mean much to some who just enjoy watching a good series as they unwind from their busy day, this could be an issue for some as there&rsquo;s a gap between the end of the Marvel series Secret Invasion (premiering in June) and the premier of Ahsoka.
We all know the pain of juggling different shows at once&hellip;
But despite the clash in episode releases, we are sure fans wouldn&rsquo;t mind binging extra shows in between and that Ahsoka will certainly be fun to watch. Hopefully, it can give us the experience that Andor gave us if not better.

Yesterday, the internet was buzzing about Singaporean comedian Jocelyn Chia after her insensitive joke about MH370 went viral all over social media.

As the clip gained millions of views across social media platforms, local comedian Harith Iskander and the Singapore High Commissioner To Malaysia both shared their views on the video.
As we all know, comedy is an art form but its something that the jokester will need to be careful of as what they say can really deem if they get cancelled by society.
Harith Iskander Shares His Perspective
At the time, Harith says he was late to the party as he&rsquo;s currently overseas and he felt compelled to share his perspective on the joke online as the MH370 tragedy is truly a traumatic experience for Malaysians and many others. Harith also highlighted that comedians need to exercise caution when touching on personal and tragic topics.

&ldquo;As a comedian, I respect the freedom of expression that we comedians require to do our job. But it is equally important to exercise some level of sensitivity and empathy especially topics that is personal and tragic,&rdquo; said Harith in his video.
Aside from that, Harith also emphasizes that comedians need to be crucial in finding the balance between comedy, sensitivity and empathy. It's also the job of the comedians to make people laugh but also quote Uncle Ben&rsquo;s famous line in Spider-Man, &ldquo;With great power comes great responsibility&rdquo;.
Comedians must recognize that comedy is subjective as some jokes may be funny to some and others may not entirely like it. Even he admits that he makes fun of Singapore all the time but he only takes it as part of friendly banter that allows them to coexist &ldquo;like competitive cousins&rdquo;.

Before ending his video, Harith had indirectly roasted Chia at the end of his video in the most harmful manner which certainly was the icing on the cake to end his perspective of the joke.
&ldquo;Malaysia, we may be a developing nation, but when it comes to KINDNESS and THOUGHTFULNESS, we are definitely first world, don&rsquo;t know about other countries though wink wink. It&rsquo;s a joke.&rdquo;
Singapore High Commissioner To Malaysia Apologises For The Incident

Meanwhile, after the video blew up, Vanu Gopala Menon who is the Singapore High Commissioner To Malaysia issued a statement on their Facebook page about Chia&rsquo;s stand-up routine. &nbsp;
&ldquo;I am appalled by the gratuitously offensive comments made by stand-up performer Jocelyn Chia. The Singapore Government does not condone words or actions that cause harm or hurt to others and Chia, who is no longer Singaporean, does not in any way reflect our views. I sincerely apologise to all Malaysians for her hurtful remarks.
As our closest neighbour, Singapore and Malaysia enjoy a strong and multi-faceted relationship, with deep and cross-cutting ties. We also have unique historical and close people-to-people ties. Comments such as those made by Chia are unhelpful and undermine the close trust and friendship that both our countries and peoples enjoy.&rdquo;

To add to the anger, Intan Maizura Othman whose husband Mohd Hazrin Mohamed Hasnan was onboard the tragic flight had also voiced out and criticized her for being insensitive towards victims.

Jocelyn Chia Goes Black On Social Media
&nbsp;Yesterday when visiting her social media pages, Chia had initially limited her page from receiving comments on her page after netizens had bombarded her with criticism. She even responded to some comments stating that Malaysians &ldquo;don&rsquo;t understand humour&rdquo;.

Checking back today, it seems like her official Facebook, Instagram and Twitter page has gone dark with the exception of her <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@jocelynchiacomedy?lang=en">TikTok</a> page and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/@JocelynChiaComedy">YouTube</a> Channel still active. At the time of writing, Chia still had the offensive video uploaded on her TikTok but has since been taken down.

As of now, it&rsquo;s not known if Chia herself had taken her own page down till the controversy dies down or if her page has been officially banned by the respective social media pages.
Well, it looks like the cancel culture is now stepping in and it seems that Chia can&rsquo;t handle the pressure as she&rsquo;s being the talk of the town.
