Have you ever thought of using shortcuts to get to your desired destination? I bet everyone has thought of it before despite of what your GPS app would tell you to do. Sometimes we tell ourselves, this road is empty so why not use it to save our time, right?
Interestingly, a video was posted on the &ldquo;我们是马来西亚人 We are Malaysians&rdquo; Facebook Group showing a Perodua Bezza attempting to use a Motorcycle Cross-Over Bridge.
What happened in the video?
&nbsp;The first half of the video shows that the Perodua Bezza was trying to reverse out of the bridge and then another half showed two motorcyclists were assisting them.
However, there is no clear statement on where and when this incident happened.

What can we learn from the video?
It is true that cutting corners can save your time and energy but that only happens once in a blue moon and only after a good amount of thinking has been done.
Therefore, before deciding on breaking rules or doing something crazy, please at least think of the consequences that it may bring and whether or not you can handle it.

But when it comes to shopping especially if it&rsquo;s for luxury goods online, we must always ensure that the we are purchasing the goods from a trustworthy seller and prevent ourselves from falling victim to scams operation.
For those who&rsquo;ve been following social media, you may of came across the story of a couple in Singapore who&rsquo;ve built a lavish lifestyle by scamming others.

Meet 26-year-old Singaporean man Pi Jiapeng and his 27-year-old Thai national wife, Siriwipa Pansuk. His wife had founded a company which allegedly helps buyers from Singapore to procure luxury goods such as clothing items, handbags, jewellery, and watches. The two had also met on Tinder before marrying and going into business together.

The two had took clients out for expensive meals and invited them to a well decorated landed-home along Holland Road as well. The couple had built a reputation for this business called &ldquo;Tradenation and Tradeluxury&rdquo; as they engage in procurement of luxury goods. The main reason why their business went well was due to social media influencers bolstering reviews about their physical stores as well as their e-commerce platform via Carousell.

However, many had started suspecting the two when they would repeatedly made excuses as they could not fulfil orders after customers paid them. Multiple reports were made against the company with one customer allegedly losing out SGD $180,000 (~RM583,721.69).
Pi had bene arrested by the police and had his passport impounded, but was later released on bail. Meanwhile, Siriwipa had surrendered her passport and was cooperative with the investigation at the time before both of them had became unreachable.
Escaping Singapore to Malaysia

As police investigate their case, the two had allegedly escaped Singapore by hiding in a Malaysian-registered lorry. The 40-year-old driver had been detailed for abetting the duo as well as a 38-year-old man who colluded with them. Red notices were given to them by Interpol which are usually issued if fugitives are wanted for prosecution or to severe sentence.
On August 11, the two were officially arrested by Malaysian authorities after Singaporean police had received a tip-off from the Royal Thai Police as they were said to be staying in a hotel in Johor Bahru. The two were later handed over to Singaporean law-enforcement officers at the Woodlands Checkpoint.
The two will be charged of criminal conspiracy to commit cheating and illegal departure and is expected to be charged today. The two had scammed an estimated amount of SGD $32 Million (~RM103 Million) in in unfulfilled orders as there is a total of 180 reports made against them.
This is a lesson for all as we should always be careful when purchasing goods online as well as not to scam people for a living or else, you&rsquo;ll end up like these two.

Well, it seems like Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin has finally confirmed that the movie was banned due to LGBT elements.
The revelation was revealed during a Q&amp;A session in the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWw3-eaHyy4&amp;t=3528s">Dewan Negara</a> on 10 of August.
PAS Senator Datuk Ahmad Yahya had questioned if the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) will be looking towards enhancing the law to prevent the number of movies that promote ideologies that are not in line with the religions and cultures of the country.
Additionally, he also lauded KKMM for its firmness on banning movies such as Walt Disney&rsquo;s Lightyear recently.

"Lately, there was a movie that failed to pass our censorship (board), and&nbsp;that was the latest&nbsp;Thor movie," he said.
"(It was banned) because it mentioned LGBT but we see right now there are many films with LGBT elements that slip past the censorship."

As there are more films coming out, identifying these elements are becoming more subtle.
He references the historic film of Alexander the Great which he had watched when he was younger. In the film, Alexander and his confidant had come back from somewhere with tired faces, implying that the duo had &ldquo;done something&rdquo;
"That's how they promote LGBT," he said, adding, "Now there are many films on television, that passed (censorship), are full of LGBT elements. So, if there are those that slipped past censorship,&nbsp;we ask the community to help us,&rdquo; he said.
Ministry taking further action towards those who promote LGBT culture
Now with social media being the most influential tool out there, the ministry will be looking out for individuals who promote the culture in Malaysia.
One prime example of who they attempted to take action towards was Nur Sajat who had fled the country and obtained citizenship elsewhere.

"They are number one in promoting (LGBT). But we can't capture them. So, with a joint effort of the religious departments and the government, we will prevent LGBT culture from spreading."
Malaysia has a law which promote racial and religious tolerance but will not show tolerance towards male or female homosexuality. According to the federal penal code, those found guilty will face a prison sentence of up to 20 years and mandatory whipping.
How much control can the Malaysian government take over films?

As much as they would like total control, the government can&rsquo;t do much and can&rsquo;t control companies with online streaming and over-the-top (OTT) platforms as they are based abroad. One example is Netflix, although they have a Malaysian office, their main HQ is based abroad.
According to Zahidi, the provisions in the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 do not include censorship of such content. It is also spelled out under Section 3(3) he said.
OTT services such as Netflix are not like public broadcast services or private institutions in the country therefore, they don&rsquo;t need to answer to existing laws involving licencing and censorship in the country.
To end it off, Zahidi urges all Malaysians to practice self-control and use their own judgement before viewing such content.

Government To Take Strict Action Towards LGBT Community And Films In Malaysia

Last time, our Transport Minister publicly announced the proposal of <a href="https://myc.my/articles/1540/government-to-lower-the-age-limit-for-vocational-license-to-18-causes-rage">lowering the age limit for vocational license to 18</a>, and deemed that it is to encourage young people into the gig economy.
Consequently, a lot of people have questioned the practicality of the bill itself. In their eyes, the bill was full of flaws and will ultimately chase away the youngsters; which is the contrary of the initial aim of the bill claimed by the government.
2 days after the bill introduction, Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong made a press conference to correct his previous statements.

He clarifies that delivery riders will NOT be needing the GDL to operate nor do they have to undergone the Puspakom inspection:
&ldquo;Yesterday, I watched a few videos that alleged we are forcing all p-hailing riders to take the GDL test, and some are also saying they will need a Puspakom inspection [for their vehicles]. I feel that that&rsquo;s not right.
He said, &rdquo;the amendments we are making to Act 333 of the Road Transport Act are only meant to regulate the p-hailing industry and [determine] how we are going to register those who are involved in this industry as p-hailing riders.&rdquo;

Relatively, a new type of vocational license is what they initially aimed to launch for the delivery riders.
&ldquo;I promise you this is absolutely not the same as a GDL, which is meant for four-wheeled vehicles and requires drivers to take a special course and undergo a stringent process to obtain it. That is not the case,&rdquo; Wee insisted.
The Ministry wants to officially register the delivery riders with this new system. For now, since the license is in the early stage, it will function as a form of recognition of the delivery riders.
As for the price, it will cost &ldquo;only a few ringgit, not even RM10&rdquo;, &ldquo;subject to discussion with all stakeholders,&rdquo; said the Transport Minister.

Additionally, Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong promised to provide a one-year moratorium to encourage the riders to request the license themselves.

But still, the license requires riders to attend an introductory course.

Instead of sitting for a full test, the riders will need to attend an approximate of 3 hours course to obtain the license.
This is done based on the concern of the report by Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) shared by the Transport Minister:
&ldquo;62% of delivery riders stopped in yellow boxes and pedestrian walkways. Another 14% used handphones while riding, while 7% of them ran red lights and made illegal U-turn; 3% of them rode against traffic flow.&rdquo;
For your information, this study was done using the &ldquo;Integrated Transport Information System (ITIS) to monitor the riding behavior of 16,038 riders on 11 roads in Kuala Lumpur.&rdquo;
All in all, &ldquo;we&rsquo;re creating this license to tell these riders nicely: do your jobs carefully,&rdquo; said Wee Ka Siong.

30 out of 114 victims of human trafficking caused by job scams have been able to safely return to Malaysia while the rest are still trapped overseas, according to Datuk Seri Michael Chong, The MCA Public Services and Complaints Department Head. He added that a ransom of RM 80,000 to RM 100,000 had been requested by the traffickers to release these victims.
54 victims had been trafficked to Cambodia, 29 to Myanmar and 11 to Laos, declared Datuk Seri Michael Chong.&nbsp;&nbsp;

<h2>Victims Falling Prey To Job Scams&nbsp;</h2>
One victim had been imprisoned by the traffickers for 3 years and sold to different trafficking organisations 4 times. He had been found out to be in Laos.&nbsp;
Four women, whose family members had been trafficked, were present at the media conference addressing the issue of fake job agencies and their crime of human trafficking.
Yap, 48, had lost track of her 26-years-old nephew after he had gone to Laos for job seeking. It had later been discovered that he had been tricked. Now he is working as a scammer there. He is forced to work over 12 hours per day, but his failure to reach such a goal will result in him facing two more hours of work and punishment of beatings. His family needs to pay a RM113,00 ransom to rescue him.&nbsp;
Alinda, 50, from Johor Baru, said that her 22-years old son had departed to Dubai to land a customer service job after he had heard it from an acquaintance.&nbsp;
"After three weeks in Dubai, my son told me the company went bankrupt and they were sent to Cambodia.&rdquo; Said she.
&nbsp;&ldquo;When in transit in Singapore, two of his friends managed to run away but he failed.&rdquo; She added. "He's working as a scammer with six others. One of them is a Malay girl from Kedah and five others are Chinese,"
She mentioned that she had failed to reach out to his son&rsquo;s acquaintance who had recommended him the job.&nbsp;
Tiong, 48, said she had warned her son about his job offer in Cambodia, advising him not to accept it. She indicated that his disappearance after going on a vacation to Taiwan last Wednesday (August 3, 2022)&nbsp; has to do with him being conned to Cambodia.&nbsp;
A message from one 35 years old victim asking for help for his detained status in Cambodia had been received by his wife, Chong, 27. Fortunately, he had been able to leave the country two weeks ago.&nbsp;
"Please lodge a police report if your family members are victims because the police will take action real soon," Chong said.

By introducing the Housewife Social Safety Bill 2022, the Social Security Scheme (SKSSR) managed by the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso/ SOCSO) will be implemented:

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">The bill provides insurance for the housewives who register voluntarily to this programme, which includes disability benefits, medical coverage, constant attendance allowance, survivor's pension and funeral benefit.&nbsp;</li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">As long as the housewives continue to pay for the programme, the event of divorce, the death of the husband and the failure of the husband to contribute due to different reasons such as the loss of income would not affect the coverage of the insurance fees&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">The husband or housewife will have to pay RM120 in advance to SOCSO to obtain 12 months of protection.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Single mothers or homemakers could also contribute if their husbands opt not to enrol into the programme with a payment as low as RM10 per month.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">The scheme will not charge the estimated numbers of 150,000 housewives living in poverty, who register under the government&rsquo;s i-Suri initiative.&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">The requirements for signing up the scheme: -A housewife, which is defined in the bill as any woman attending the household chores on a full- time or part time basis, regardless of one&rsquo;s marital status. -Below 55-years-old</li>

In my opinion, the scheme is still conducted on a voluntary basis, which means that if the husband denies his wife any income and refuses to participate in it, the wife would not be able to access the given benefits.
However, Awang said that SOCSO will promote awareness campaigns like engagement sessions, road shows, Prihatin Squad activities, and its Social Synergy programme to endorse husbands to contribute to the SKSSR.&nbsp; Despite its lacking, it is still a step ahead on the long road of safeguarding women rights in Malaysia.&nbsp;
On a side note, the drafting of <a href="https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2022/07/08/time-for-a-menstrual-leave-policy-says-mp/">the menstrual leave policy </a>is still an ongoing debate in Malaysia. Growing up, we get to know different types of people with different personalities. And if you are a driver, you can definitely see how different people drive on the road.
In the worst cases, some &lsquo;forgot&rsquo; to put their signals on when changing lanes, some just completely rush through red lights, and some speed up when driving through small roads.
Like.. ugh!
Believe it or not, this shows how different people deal with their emotions when their patience is tested. However, acknowledging differences does not mean that we have to tolerate it especially when it brings harm to other people.
Just like in the recent Facebook post that showed a man breaking a woman&rsquo;s car window, with a knife!

The video started with a woman showing how she was driving towards the intersection and the car in front of her stopped. The driver then came up by her window, getting mad at her and just poked through her window with a knife!
Like, the way that man showed up with a knife and wearing a glove was already fishy and scary to me. *goosebumps*
The man then continued to threaten and question her and deemed that the woman was being impatient. He said &ldquo;Why is your car going to the side?!&rdquo; The pregnant lady then replied &ldquo;Because I thought you were turning right!&rdquo;
Then the man continued to peek through the hole he poked and lectured her that she can&rsquo;t do that and just &lsquo;be patient.&rsquo; The woman was dumbfounded and continued to question him &lsquo;why&rsquo;.
Not long after, this man suddenly brought up whether she wanted to go to the police station, and of course, the pregnant woman didn&rsquo;t hesitate and insisted on settling there.

Thank god, it was later reported and the&nbsp;middle-aged man was arrested by the police last Sunday.
And guess what, the Kelantan Police Chief, Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said that this man actually has 7 previous records with the police. Most of the records are related to drug offenses.

The Kelantan Police Chief also explained that this incident was a result of the honking he received from other cars, which was alleged by the mad man.
Like, duh&hellip; That still doesn&rsquo;t justify his actions of harming other people!
The man was then remanded for four days starting last Monday. The Chief said, the case is being investigated according to sections 506, 279 and 427 of the Penal Code for making threats and mischief.

There may be a strike held by riders from Malaysian delivery services like Grab and Food Panda for 24 hours tomorrow, on 5 August 2022.
It is stated that their strike is a result provoked by: 1) The cutting of wages 2) Long working hours

The riders discussed their hope for the improvement of their fares through the strike. They revealed that they might be planning the strike for 3 days without being provided a solution that fulfils both parties.&nbsp;

Update: Injured Dancer From Hong Kong Boy Band 'Mirror' Still In Critical Condition

Concerts would not be complete without a decorated stage. Although it seems small from a tv or phone screen, the decorations are actually big in scale.
Therefore, the organizers and management should always take serious precautions before, during and after the concerts.

During a concert of Hong Kong famous boy band, MIRROR, one of the giant LED screens had fallen and injured 2 of the performers.
Videos of the incident are circulating the internet as it showed a screen falling right on a dancer's head and body before it flips and falls onto the other performer.
The two injured dancers were sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital last night. One was admitted in the intensive care unit with a neck injury and the other victim had sustained a head injury but is currently stable.

He asked the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) to form a task force and investigate this incident.
This incident was later labeled as a &lsquo;serious industrial accident&rsquo;.

The concert organizers, Music Nation and MakerVille publicly apologized four hours after the show and announced that the rest of the show will be dismissed.
They vowed to fully investigate the cause of the accident and update the public officially.
&ldquo;Regarding the discomfort caused to the audiences and other people affected, we feel deeply sorry,&rdquo; they apologized and promised that tickets refund will be arranged.

Oof.. this is a lot to take in, people are getting serious injuries for god knows why. Is it really an accident? Or is it sabotage? Or is it negligence by the organizers themselves?
