Recently, a job advertisement that was put up in Malaysia had caught the attention of many as it offered positions to work at Singapore&rsquo;s Changi Airport circulated around social media.

The black-and-white flyer stated that there are openings for sales and customer service staff which offered a pay of S$3,000 ++ (~RM9,686 and above). The biggest benefit that caught the attention of many was that the job is a four-day work week and is based off a shift basis. The basic training and uniforms for the employees will also be provided if one were to accept the job.
When China Press first reported the posting, the media outlet had not mentioned where candidates can attend the interview after blurring out the details. After further digging around media, a post stated that the interview was located at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Johor Bahru.
Netizens were in full disbelief
Despite how interesting the job advertisement is to many; people had speculated it to be a bit suspicious due to how it was advertised and that the interview was at a hotel.

Recruitment agency responds to the viral news
As other media agencies caught on with the story, MCI Career Services who is part of the MCI Group had posted up a Facebook post and had verified the job advertisement.

They stated that as there had been news about human trafficking scam issues going around, they had clarified about the circulating photo and stated that the job offered is authentic. In fact, it was also a paid advertisement in The China Press Berhad newspaper as they wanted to promote their upcoming overseas recruitment drive.
MCI Career service is actually headquartered in Singapore and they have been providing local and foreign recruitment services for their clients. MCI also confirmed that those who have passed the interview successfully will me working at Changi Airport.
A spokesperson from Changi Airport Group (CAG) had informed that they use recruitment agencies to hire staff for tenants and vendors located in the airport. However, they did not hire this said recruitment agency to put out this job advertisement.
Even if the job is legit, the advertising for it looks pretty sus and I personally won&rsquo;t be looking at it. As a precaution to all Malaysians, remember to do your research first before applying for any jobs in the future to ensure you don&rsquo;t end up a victim of a job scam.

However, the act that made headlines was when two students set fire to a large placard bearing Anwar&rsquo;s caricature and the words: &ldquo;MADANI: Protector of Sabah corruption.&rdquo; The imagery and bold message sparked both condemnation and debate.
One of the organisers, final-year student Fadhil Kasim, later took responsibility for the act on social media, defending it as a symbolic gesture rooted in historical student activism.

In his statement, Fadhil invoked the legacy of Anwar Ibrahim himself &mdash; who, as a student leader in the 1970s, led similar acts of protest. He also added that the outrage from Anwar's loyalists &mdash; including youth groups such as ABIM and AMK &mdash; missed the point, as they were more concerned with optics and reverence than the actual issues being raised.
UMS: Burning Was &lsquo;Immature and Uncivilised&rsquo;

The university indicated that disciplinary proceedings were being considered under the Universities and University Colleges Act (AUKU). A committee of academics would be established to review the matter and determine appropriate action, including possible suspension or expulsion.

Datin Vivy Sofinas Yusof and her husband, Datuk Fadzarudin Shah Anuar &mdash; co-founders of the once-celebrated fashion and e-commerce brands FashionValet and dUCk &mdash; are set to stand trial in 2026 for allegedly misappropriating RM8 million in investment funds. The funds, entrusted to their company by two government-linked investment giants &mdash; Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) &mdash; were meant to support and develop local entrepreneurship.
Instead, the high-profile couple is accused of transferring the RM8 million from FashionValet Sdn Bhd into a separate entity they also owned &mdash; 30 Maple Sdn Bhd &mdash; without obtaining approval from FashionValet&rsquo;s board of directors. The alleged financial misconduct is said to have taken place on 21 August 2018 at Public Bank&rsquo;s Bukit Damansara branch in Kuala Lumpur.
Trial Dates Set for 2026

After months of legal developments, the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court has now fixed 15 days for the full trial next year. Sessions Court Judge Rosli Ahmad confirmed the following dates:

The next case mention is scheduled for 27 October 2025, allowing the defence team more time to examine forensic reports and prepare their arguments. According to Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin, the prosecution intends to call 26 witnesses to testify over the course of the trial.
Vivy and Fadzarudin, both aged 37, were not present during the recent case management hearing on 23 June 2025, as their legal counsel had secured an exemption from court attendance. The couple continues to be represented by lawyer M. Athimulan.
Pleading Not Guilty to CBT and Alternative Charge

If found guilty, they face between two and 20 years&rsquo; imprisonment, whipping, and a fine.
Additionally, the couple faces an alternative charge under Section 403, also read with Section 34, for dishonestly misappropriating property belonging to the company. This charge carries a lighter penalty &mdash; a prison term ranging from six months to five years, and may also include caning and a fine upon conviction.
Both Vivy and Fadzarudin have pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Controversy Surrounding Internal Acquisition

Although 30 Maple had posted profits of RM8.5 million in 2017 and RM7.7 million in 2018 &mdash; along with a RM10 million dividend payout &mdash; the timing and structure of the RM95 million acquisition deal sparked scepticism.
Critics argue that the founders effectively channelled public investment funds back into their personal company, raising ethical concerns over whether such internal transactions should have received greater scrutiny, especially given the involvement of taxpayer-linked capital.

Rather than relying on traditional tiered or block-based pricing, the new structure breaks down your bill into five main components:
