Does anyone have running a marathon listed up in their bucket list? Normally when many of us go on runs, we would typically tell ourselves that one day we&rsquo;ll go and run a marathon which is a total distance of 42KM.
Now, saying this can be all fun and games but to run 42KM, it&rsquo;s going to be very mentally and physically demanding.

When we attempt to run a marathon, we also should keep in mind that we need to take it gradually as our body isn&rsquo;t used to running for such a long time and distances hence why many runners constantly train every day to a to achieve such. For some, running short distances can also prove to be a challenge and by the time we are done with the run, the likelihood of us not feeling our legs is very high.

Man Runs Marathon WHILE SMOKING

Now, thinking we should all be fit and healthy, a Chinese man who goes by the name Chen who is in his 50&rsquo;s was spotted running in the Marathon while smoking during the Xin An Jiang marathon in Jiande, China.
Wait what?! Smoking while running?!
The marathon was finally back in action after having a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic in China. Throughout the 42KM run, Chen had been smoking on a cigarette and casually continued on.
Everyone knows that running or even jogging around can potentially leave a person breathless but Chen appeared to not have been affected so much on it as he eventually finished 574th in the race with a time of 3:24:45. Mind you, if you thought 574th place was bad, the Xin An Jung marathon had nearly 1,500 runners!
If you thought he only had one cigarette, nah you&rsquo;re wrong as he was spotted lighting one up a few times while he was running.

Not The First Time He&rsquo;s Done This
In fact, Chen has made headlines in the past as had attended a few marathons where he had smoked all the way through. He got his photograph taken while smoking at the 2018 Guanzhou Marathon and the 2019 Xiamen Marathon.

Ever since then, he was given the nickname &lsquo;Smoking Brother&rsquo; as he went on to participate in many other marathons across China and Tibet including an ultra-marathon which is normally between 50-100KM long and can take up to 12 hours to complete.
Netizens Having Mixed Reactions On His Achievement
Despite proving many wrong that he can smoke while competing in a marathon, his images that had been going around Weibo had even event organizers had shared his achievements certificates online.
Meanwhile, Chinese netizens were left with mixed reactions as some had praised him and some just questioning many things.
Here&rsquo;s some of the comments:
&ldquo;I dislike people who smokes in front of me while running.&rdquo;

&ldquo;Is he really smoking? What&rsquo;s the point of exercising like that?&rdquo;

&ldquo;There are many ways to insult people, why did he choose this one? Hopefully the sports community will look into this as a problem!&rsquo;
&ldquo;Does that count as doping?&rdquo;
&ldquo;If smoking is not allowed in the event, the uncle may not be able to compete in the race&rdquo;

Regardless of the achievements Chen has made, it&rsquo;s still not encouraged for people to smoke while running as it could lead to some consequences. 
If you&rsquo;re thinking of training for a marathon, remember to not push yourself on the first day and slowly build up from there!
