&ldquo;For one of the achievements listed, after checking with the organiser, we found that the certificate submitted was not genuine. With regard to this, the person will be dropped from the Perdana Fellows programme for breaching the programme&rsquo;s agreement. However, the person will be offered counselling,&rdquo; said KBS.
Furthermore, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, the Minister of International Trade and Industry, acknowledged his awareness of the situation involving a Perdana Fellow assigned to his ministry. He revealed that the selection and placement of Perdana Fellows fall under the purview of a secretariat at KBS. Additionally, he stated that MITI is currently collaborating with KBS to take appropriate follow-up actions.

For those who don&rsquo;t know, the Perdana Fellowship was launched by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in 2013, offering Malaysian youths valuable exposure to national governance. It seeks to nurture future leaders across diverse fields. Perdana Fellows work closely with Ministers in different ministries to contribute to top-tier governance. After their fellowship, they became part of the Perdana Fellows Alumni Association (PFAA).
So, Who Exactly Is KBS Talking About?

For those who might have missed the information circulating on social media, discussions have been underway about 23-year-old Muhammad Azhar Ali. He made an announcement claiming that he had received a scholarship offer from NASA and had been designated as one of their Citizen Scientists, all based on his performance in the Artemis Student Challenge Programme where he scored in the top 1%. This declaration was made on April 30, 2020.
However, many found it challenging to believe that he had achieved such a feat. Numerous individuals suspected that it might be a deception, prompting them to investigate NASA's website for any mention of his name as a Citizen Scientist. Subsequently, it was uncovered that the program was exclusively open to United States citizens and Permanent Residents, as it necessitated participants to be physically present at the competition venue in Houston, Texas.

On May 3, 2020, Azhar subsequently asserted that he might have fallen prey to an internet scam. This came in response to numerous accusations labelling him as someone who pretended to be successful without legitimate achievements. The controversy didn't stop there, though.
On August 23, 2023, Zafrul disclosed that Azhar had become a part of the Perdana Fellowship program within his ministry. An infographic detailing Azhar&rsquo;s accomplishments was also shared. However, this development didn't go smoothly for Azhar, as he once again became the target of criticism from netizens.
A Series Of Debunking Azhar&rsquo;s Credentials And Past Achievements
Not long after the announcement, many netizens ran a background check on Azhar as it's truly hard to believe that Azhar also dubbed as &ldquo;NASA Boy&rdquo; had made it this far with his lies.

Azhar had allegedly obtained a BEE in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Universiti Malaya (UM) and netizens had pointed out that UM does offer a Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEE) but does not offer a major in Electronics and Communications Engineering which was acclaimed to be taken by Azhar. In Azhar&rsquo;s post, eagled eye netizens also pointed out that &ldquo;communications&rdquo; was also misspelt in the post.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports later released an <a href="https://www.kbs.gov.my/pusat-media/kenyataan-media/250-kenyataan-media-2023.html?download=1761:siaran-media-felo-perdana-2023">official press statement</a> stating that the infographic may have been worded wrongly as he was listed as having a Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
It was reported that Azhar might have been the second-place finisher in the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2021. However, investigations revealed that the <a href="https://imaginecup.microsoft.com/en-us/winners/2021WorldChampions">winning team</a> that year hailed from Kenya, while the other finalists came from Thailand, New Zealand, and the United States.
According to Microsoft's <a href="https://news.microsoft.com/apac/2021/03/31/five-teams-from-asia-emerge-as-top-12-finalists-of-2021-microsoft-imagine-cup-world-finals-to-compete-for-a-spot-at-the-world-championships-in-may/">official website</a>, only four other Asian teams managed to secure spots in the top 12 of the competition, namely China, India, Nepal, and New Zealand. Notably, Malaysia was not among the listed countries. This raises doubts about which country Azhar may have represented, assuming he participated at all.
As for his claim of emerging as the champion at the WorldQuant Brain 2022 Global Alphathon, it was discovered that the <a href="https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20221220005794/en/WorldQuant-Announces-Completion-of-Inaugural-Global-Alphathon-Competition">four winning teams</a> that year comprised university teams from Vietnam, South Korea, and China. However, his assertion of being the Best Delegate at the Bank Negara Fiscal Policy Summit in 2021 remains unverified at this time. Initial online searches regarding this accolade yielded no results.
Netizens found Azhar's list of accomplishments somewhat amusing and likened him to Malaysia's version of Frank Abagnale, a notorious conman. Abagnale's story was famously adapted into the 2002 film 'Catch Me If You Can,' starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. Some also questioned why Perdana Fellows did not conduct more thorough background checks on their members.

For the year 2023, a total of 56 youths have been selected to participate in the Perdana Fellows programme and their stint had started on 23 Aug till 31 Dec. However since this incident has been brought up, KBS will be initiating an investigation to ensure the strengthening of the implementations of the program for the future as they constantly support the government's efforts to strengthen good governance in all their programmes.
This indeed epitomizes the classic case of "fake it till you make it." The tragic discovery of a 39-year-old schoolteacher&rsquo;s decomposed body in her Johor home has sparked widespread concern and prompted authorities to issue a public appeal for assistance in tracing her only known living relative. The woman, who had been absent from work since September last year, is believed to have died alone nearly a month prior to the discovery of her remains.
Alarming Smell Leads to Grim Discovery

On the evening of Thursday, 12 June, residents of Bandar Selesa Jaya in Skudai were alarmed by a strong foul smell emanating from a house in their neighbourhood. After days of tolerating the stench, one concerned neighbour finally lodged a police report at the Nusa Bestari Police Station at approximately 8:06pm.
Responding officers forced entry into the premises, where they were met with a harrowing scene: the lifeless, heavily decomposed body of a woman&mdash;later identified as Lo Kwan Fong, also known as Luo Qunfeng (transliteration)&mdash;was found inside the house.
According to Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan, the Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief, the victim is believed to have died about a month earlier. Early observations ruled out any signs of a struggle or forced entry.
No Foul Play Suspected, But Autopsy Inconclusive

A post-mortem examination was carried out at Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) in Johor Bahru by forensic specialists. However, due to the advanced state of decomposition, the medical team was unable to determine the precise cause of death. The body had reportedly deteriorated to such an extent that internal indicators were no longer viable for a conclusive assessment.
&ldquo;The autopsy could not ascertain the cause of death. However, there were no signs of criminal activity, and we have classified this as a case of sudden death,&rdquo; said ACP Kumarasan.
This classification rules out foul play for now, though police have not entirely closed the file, pending any new leads or forensic insights.
Months of Absence and Increasing Isolation

Lo, a teacher at a school in Taman Tunku Aminah, had not reported for work since 24 September 2024. At first, her prolonged absence was met with concern from colleagues, especially given that she had always been punctual and professional. However, those closest to her say she became increasingly withdrawn in the months prior to her disappearance.
In February 2025, her colleagues paid her a visit at home. It was the last confirmed contact anyone had with her. Subsequent efforts to reach her, including further home visits and attempts to call, went unanswered. Neighbours also noted that they had not seen her in a long time, but it wasn&rsquo;t until the strong odour began to spread that authorities were contacted.
She led a quiet, solitary life. According to her colleagues, she was reserved and rarely spoke about her personal affairs. She had reportedly lost both parents before 2010, and it was believed she had no siblings. She never married and had no children.
The only relative she had ever mentioned was her maternal aunt, who had moved to Singapore many years ago. This aunt, now estimated to be around 74 years old, is presumed to be her only surviving family member. However, no direct contact information for the aunt is known, making the search more difficult.
Her colleagues, heartbroken by the manner in which she passed, have since appealed for public assistance in finding this relative so that Lo can be laid to rest by family, not strangers.
Funeral Plans On Hold As Search for Kin Continues

Lo&rsquo;s body remains at the morgue while police and hospital authorities wait for her next of kin to come forward. &ldquo;Although people have come forward to help with her final rites, we truly hope her relative can be found to give her the proper farewell she deserves,&rdquo; said one co-worker. &ldquo;No one should have to die and be buried alone, especially someone who contributed to shaping the lives of young students.&rdquo;
Police and Public Appeal for Information
Authorities are now actively tracing Lo&rsquo;s family and have issued a public call for anyone with information to assist. Those who may have known Lo&rsquo;s family background or her late mother&rsquo;s connections in Singapore are urged to come forward.

The incident unfolded near the popular Lot 10 shopping mall, where a group of Malaysian university students noticed a man behaving oddly as he trailed a woman wearing a skirt. He was holding a paper bag in an unnatural position&mdash;angled just beneath the woman's skirt&mdash;as they crossed the street. Inside the bag, his smartphone was facing upward, allegedly positioned to secretly film beneath her clothing.
Realising something was wrong, the group&mdash;including the woman&rsquo;s friends&mdash;immediately confronted him. One of them grabbed his hand and asked, &ldquo;Bro, what are you recording?&rdquo; as another began recording the confrontation. The man, who was wearing a face mask, attempted to flee but was stopped at a nearby traffic light and later tackled to the ground when he tried to escape again.
Students Take Action Before Police Arrive

As onlookers gathered, the suspect was pinned down and held in a headlock by one of the students to prevent him from fleeing again. A security guard eventually intervened and took control of the scene before the police arrived. While waiting, the group demanded the suspect unlock his phone.
Initially, no incriminating content was visible, prompting concerns that the man may have deleted evidence. However, one of the students realised that some Android devices can switch between multiple user accounts or operating environments. Upon switching systems, they made a chilling discovery.
Staggering Archive of Voyeuristic Material Uncovered

The phone reportedly contained approximately 500GB of illicit upskirt videos and images&mdash;a collection so vast that it shocked even the seasoned among the group. In a follow-up video and accompanying Facebook post, one woman who was at the scene claimed that the phone held thousands of such recordings. Many of the victims appeared to be unaware they were being filmed, and several were reportedly not wearing safety shorts, making the act even more invasive.
Additional material found on the device allegedly included records linked to online gambling platforms, prompting speculation that the suspect may be involved in other illegal activities.
Suspect Believed to Be a Cyberjaya Student
Further investigation by the group revealed that the man is believed to be a student at a university in Cyberjaya. This revelation has sparked concern that such predatory behaviour might be occurring undetected within academic environments.
Fearing that the man could evade serious consequences or return to campus under false pretences, the students decided to publicly share their experience and the video of the confrontation. &ldquo;We don&rsquo;t want this person to tell people he was arrested for gambling and just carry on as if nothing happened,&rdquo; said one of the students involved.
Motivated by Justice, Not Fame
The video quickly went viral, with many praising the students for their courage and initiative. However, the individuals behind the video were quick to clarify their motivations. &ldquo;We&rsquo;re not doing this for attention or praise. We just want to make sure he doesn&rsquo;t get away with it&mdash;and that women are warned,&rdquo; said the victim&rsquo;s friend in a statement.
The students stressed that sharing the video was about raising awareness, not showcasing heroism. They also warned other university students to stay vigilant, as there was evidence suggesting the suspect might not have acted alone.

Students Confront Suspected Voyeur In Bukit Bintang: 500GB Of Upskirt Videos Found

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have come under the spotlight once again following the circulation of a video featuring one of its officers allegedly engaging in inappropriate behaviour. The footage, lasting just over two minutes, shows a lower-ranking officer involved in a lewd conversation with a woman, during which he is heard inviting her either to his house or to a hotel. The video was widely shared on social media, drawing public criticism and raising questions over professional conduct within the force.
According to PDRM, the incident is believed to have taken place in the Ampang Jaya district of Selangor. In response, a disciplinary and criminal investigation has been launched against the officer.
Official Statements and Immediate Response

Datuk Seri Azri Ahmad, Director of PDRM&rsquo;s Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS), confirmed that the department is actively investigating the case from both disciplinary and supervisory standpoints. Separately, Ampang Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail revealed that the officer in question has already been temporarily relieved of his duties pending the outcome of the investigation.

The officer is now being investigated under two key laws. The first is Section 509 of the Penal Code, which deals with words or gestures intended to insult a person&rsquo;s modesty. The second is Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which addresses the misuse of network facilities or services to transmit offensive or indecent content.
In tandem with the criminal investigation, an internal disciplinary process is being carried out to assess breaches of the police code of conduct.

Integrity Issues Plague PDRM Amid Officer Misconduct Scandal

The recent viral misconduct case is just the tip of the iceberg for the PDRM, as broader concerns about internal discipline and professionalism continue to mount. Between January and May 2025, 492 officers were subjected to disciplinary action, with 59 dismissed and 146 suspended, according to Datuk Seri Azri Ahmad, Director of PDRM&rsquo;s Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS).
The most common offences were integrity-related violations (333 cases), followed by governance issues (45), drug offences (42), criminal acts (38), syariah breaches (19), and corruption (15). The figures were revealed during Azri&rsquo;s visit to the newly officiated Maran District Police Headquarters, which serves over 115,000 residents.
Public complaints about police misconduct also surged, with 2,637 reports filed in just five months&mdash;1,892 formal complaints and 745 public tips. In response, PDRM launched the Aduan JIPS PDRM app, offering a more transparent platform for the public to report wrongdoing.
End of a Career and a Call for Reform
Azri&rsquo;s remarks came as part of his final tour of duty, with his retirement scheduled for 26 June 2025, marking the end of a 37-year career in the police service. His departure comes at a pivotal moment, as PDRM faces mounting pressure to reform and rebuild trust with the public.
While the current case may involve a single officer, it has highlighted systemic concerns around supervision, discipline, and the need for continued vigilance against abuses of power.

PDRM Officer Under Investigation After Inappropriate Remarks Caught In Viral Video

In a striking example of how appearances can be deceiving, two luxury car drivers were recently caught by the Selangor Road Transport Department (JPJ) for driving without valid road tax and insurance. Despite being behind the wheel of a BMW X5 and a Ford Mustang, both drivers claimed they were unable to renew their documents due to financial hardship.
The enforcement operation, Ops Harian, was held on Thursday, 12 June 2025, along the Kajang&ndash;Cheras Expressway, and ran from 2pm to 11pm. The two high-end vehicles were stopped during routine checks, and further inspection revealed they were in breach of road regulations.
Excuses Don&rsquo;t Match the Lifestyle: &ldquo;We Couldn&rsquo;t Afford It&rdquo;

According to Selangor JPJ Director Azrin Borhan, the Ford Mustang, driven by a man in his early 30s, was flagged for not having a valid Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM) or insurance. The driver claimed he was unable to renew his road tax due to being blacklisted as a result of multiple outstanding traffic summonses.
The driver of the BMW X5, a man in his 40s, was found to be in even more serious violation &mdash; his vehicle had been driven with an expired road tax for more than a year and without any valid insurance coverage. When asked for an explanation, he too cited financial difficulties as the reason.
Both men stated that although they could afford to purchase luxury cars, they were struggling to maintain legal compliance with basic motoring requirements, such as road tax and insurance.
JPJ: &ldquo;Owning a Luxury Car Does Not Make You Above the Law&rdquo;

In response to the violations, both vehicles were immediately seized and taken to the JPJ Shah Alam branch for further investigation and enforcement action.
Azrin Borhan delivered a strong message to the public:
&ldquo;Driving an expensive vehicle is not a licence to break the law. Regardless of income or status, all road users must follow the same regulations. There will be no exceptions for those who own luxury cars.&rdquo;
He also stressed that stern action would be taken against individuals who are found to be negligent or who intentionally ignore their responsibilities as drivers.
A Recurring Issue: Expensive Cars, Missing Paperwork

The two vehicles involved in this latest case &mdash; a Ford Mustang and a BMW X5 &mdash; are each worth hundreds of thousands of ringgit in the Malaysian market. The discrepancy between such valuable assets and the drivers&rsquo; claimed inability to pay for legal documents has reignited public concern over irresponsible ownership practices.
JPJ Urges Public to Stay Vigilant and Report Violations
JPJ also encouraged members of the public to report traffic offences through official channels. Those who witness violations or suspect similar offences can lodge a report by emailing aduantrafik@jpj.gov.my or by using the e-Aduan JPJ mobile app. Reports should include sufficient detail and the complainant&rsquo;s contact information to allow for proper follow-up.
Azrin concluded his statement by calling on all motorists to take responsibility for their vehicles and comply with national road safety laws at all times.
&ldquo;Road safety is a shared responsibility. We urge everyone to ensure their vehicles are properly taxed, insured, and maintained. Anyone found to be negligent will face legal consequences.&rdquo;
