Ariff Luqman Peters Lisut, a 27-year-old entrepreneur who once led a luxurious life, complete with beautiful homes and imported cars. However, his fortunes took a sharp downturn when he ventured into digital currency investments, ultimately leading to him losing his home.
Ariff was a rising star in the local music industry, but due to an ill-fated investment scheme, he found himself compelled to liquidate his cattle farming business, two houses, and three cars, including an imported vehicle and a van. This was to repay clients who had suffered losses in his investment program.
He revealed that the investments alone left him drowning in massive debt, owing up to RM1 million two years ago. As a result, he made the difficult choice to live in his Proton Wira, opting not to burden himself with renting a room.
"My mistake was placing too much trust in the investment and using my success as a businessman to attract public investments," he admitted. "The initial intention was to assist the public, but I never anticipated that some participants would vanish, leaving me to handle clients seeking refunds."

Despite liquidating his assets, it proved insufficient to settle his substantial debt. Ariff embarked on a diverse array of jobs to chip away at his financial obligations, including cleaning and sanitizing homes, crafting lyrics, designing business posters, copywriting, creating various video content, and providing delivery services.
Fast forward to 2023, Ariff has managed to secure a full-time job, yet he continues to juggle multiple side gigs in order to address the remaining RM100,000 of debt. His routine involves sleeping at the office from Monday to Friday and engaging in side jobs during the evenings. On weekends, he dedicates his time to working on music at a friend's studio. Despite this relentless work ethic, he remains steadfast in his decision not to rent a house or room, as he is determined not to burden himself further with financial obligations.
Took A While To Adapt To Living In His Car
Living this way was initially a challenge for Ariff, and he admitted that the first three months were particularly tough since it was a departure from his accustomed lifestyle. However, as time passed, he grew accustomed to it and even found it bearable, as long as he could secure some rest and seek shelter from both rain and sun.

Having commenced his business journey at the tender age of 20, Ariff now leads a solitary life, though he maintains contact with his father after having lost his mother to breast cancer eight years ago. He reminisces about a time when life was considerably more favourable, but with the various challenges that have arisen, he has adopted a willingness to pursue any lawful means of income generation.
Regarding his outstanding debt, he remains diligently committed to its repayment, with 90% of his earnings being allocated toward settling it. Reflecting on a challenging phase, he acknowledges the disappearance of some individuals who were present during better times, as they stopped responding to calls.
For the time being, Ariff has chosen to temporarily reside in his car and until he&rsquo;s successfully cleared all his debts then only consider renting a place.
Using Social Media To Seek Job Opportunities
Ariff occasionally posts videos on social media, shedding light on his current circumstances and the challenges he faces in life. Regrettably, some have misinterpreted his intentions, believing he is seeking sympathy or soliciting donations. However, his primary objective is to leverage social media as a platform to explore job opportunities.
In a recent video, he shared his experience of being invited onto Hot FM, where he was given the opportunity to promote his services, aiming to contribute to the resolution of his outstanding debt.

Education and innovation were named as key pillars of the city&rsquo;s success, with local universities ranked among the top 50 globally and a remarkable 7.37 patents granted per 10,000 residents, highlighting a &ldquo;steady pipeline&rdquo; of new ideas. Singapore also enjoys high digital literacy, with 55 per cent of citizens possessing digital skills and over 63 per cent fluent in a foreign language &mdash; a reflection of its global connectivity.

The state&rsquo;s decision follows growing public concern about the visibility of vape marketing, particularly near schools and public areas, which critics say normalises the habit among impressionable youth.
Vaping Among Teen Boys Described as &lsquo;Alarming&rsquo;

She described the figure as &ldquo;deeply alarming&rdquo; and warned that it signalled a dangerous trend that, if left unaddressed, could have long-term public health implications.
&ldquo;These statistics are not just numbers; they represent thousands of young lives potentially heading down a path of addiction and health problems,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;We cannot afford to be passive. The time to act is now.&rdquo;
Online Sales Remain a Key Regulatory Challenge

Despite the legal nuances, Selangor is calling for widespread support to ensure the success of its anti-vape campaign. Jamaliah said that the cooperation of parents, schools, healthcare professionals, and civil society organisations is vital to changing the tide of vape use among teens.
&ldquo;We welcome the active involvement of stakeholders at all levels&mdash;state, federal, and grassroots&mdash;to ensure these measures are effective and enduring,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;This is not just a government effort. It must be a collective societal responsibility.&rdquo;
