For Malaysians, the joy of finally taking a break from work to explore new destinations is unparalleled. Common choices include trending K-Drama-inspired trips to Korea, visits to America, or exploring the beauty of Europe.
However, as much as we cherish the thrill of adventure, it doesn't always unfold as planned, especially when the outcome is far from enjoyable and memorable. Unfortunately, for a Malaysian couple, their dream vacation in the romantic city of Paris turned into a harrowing nightmare. The discovery of a thief pilfering their belongings during their stay at a Parisian hotel cast a shadow over what should have been a perfect holiday.
Nightmare In Paris
Recently, <a href="https://www.xiaohongshu.com/explore/656d93aa000000003a00bb7e">Xiaohongshu</a> user Allen Tee took to the Chinese social media app to provide additional insights into the unfortunate incident. Expressing dissatisfaction with the authorities and hotel management, he shared the details of a devastating encounter. The couple, upon returning to their hotel room after a day out in the city, were shocked to find their suitcase ruthlessly cut open, with their valuable items stolen.

While the luggage was unattended in the hotel room, the thieves successfully made off with various items, including cash, wallets, computers, iPads, and phones, along with a recently purchased pony skirt belonging to the woman. Allen discovered unauthorized transactions on his card and, upon contacting the bank to suspend the service, was shocked to learn that the thief had continued using it to make purchases, including meals at McDonald's.
Where &amp; How Did It Happen?

The occurrence took place on December 3rd at the Holiday Inn Paris Op&eacute;ra Grands Boulevards hotel. Before embarking on his trip, Allen emphasized that he had thoroughly researched and inquired about safety measures for his visit to Paris. He received advice from many to exercise caution in the city of love, known for pickpockets and street robberies even during daylight. Taking the prevalent crime into account, the couple actively sought secure accommodations in Paris, heeding their friends' recommendation to stay at larger-scale hotels for enhanced safety and dependability.

An unforeseen event occurred at the hotel when a French guest, fluent in Chinese, unexpectedly encountered the thief in his room upon returning. Engaging with the thief, the Frenchman attempted to flee, but the vigilant guest successfully captured two photos of the culprit as evidence. The images provided conclusive proof that the individual was indeed the thief who had stolen Allen's belongings, as the backpack he was carrying belonged to Allen.
Suspects There&rsquo;s An Insider In The Hotel &amp; Police Were Called To Investigate
Upon closer examination, Allen observed that the hotel permitted outsiders unrestricted access to the premises, including guest floors, at any time. The ease with which the thief could access any room using a simple room card and exit the hotel with stolen goods without arousing staff suspicion led Allen to suspect foul play. He concluded that there might be something dubious happening, with a high likelihood of an insider from the hotel being involved in the break-ins.

After reporting the incident to the police and undergoing a series of inquiries, they were instructed to proceed to the nearby police station. There, they were informed that such incidents were treated as common due to the frequency of similar cases. The authorities exhibited indifference, overlooking their concerns, and the couple experienced an extended wait at the police station, with routine questions being primarily communicated in French between the hotel manager and the authorities.
Ultimately, the couple felt let down by the lack of assistance from both the authorities and the hotel staff, who failed to take the situation seriously. Consequently, they opted to relocate to a different hotel, incurring additional expenses to replace the stolen items. Although they continued their trip around France, they had to forgo some initially planned activities due to the unfortunate incident.
This incident serves as a valuable lesson. Contrary to the picturesque image of France, some people label the French as unhygienic, and others have encountered instances of racism towards different cultures and religions. It underscores the importance of exercising caution while travelling, emphasizing the need to take proper precautions to secure belongings and thoroughly inspect accommodations before leaving personal items unattended.

M’sian Couple’s Paris Trip Becomes A Nightmare After Thief Breaks Into Their Hotel Room & Steals Their Valuables

This past week, our nation was shocked by the news of Zayn Rayyan&rsquo;s death, an autistic non-speaking 6-year-old boy. He was first reported missing on 7th December (Tuesday) when his missing poster went viral on social media. On 8th December (Wednesday), his body was found lying on a riverbed not far from his family residence in Damansara Damai. While waiting for the autopsy result, police classified the poor boy&rsquo;s death as sudden death.
Late evening yesterday, our nation was once again shocked when police reclassified the late Zayn Rayyan&rsquo;s death as murder. Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the case of the child's death has been reclassified as murder after the autopsy found signs of injuries on the victim's neck and body. &ldquo;We will re-record statements from the victim&rsquo;s parents, family members, and neighbours to aid the investigation,&rdquo; he added.
Bukit Aman Is Probing Further Into The Case

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, in his press conference with the media, confirmed there were traces of strangulation on the victim&rsquo;s body after receiving the full autopsy report from the forensics. &ldquo;The victim for sure did not die from drowning. He did not die at the scene we found him. Chances are he was murdered somewhere else before his body was dumped at the scene,&rdquo; added the Bukit Aman CID director further.
Police suspected the boy was dead within 48 hours before he was found based on the post-mortem report. While Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily confirmed the strangulation claim, he refused to provide further details of injuries sustained by the victim as a sign of respect towards the deceased and his family. However, he did not deny there were traces of injuries of the victim trying to defend himself.
&ldquo;We are probing into this case seriously. It&rsquo;s still too early for us to reveal the progress of the investigation, but as of right now, we strongly believe this is a murder case. To anyone who has information out there, please come forward to aid us in the investigation,&rdquo; said Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily. Recalling where the body was found, the police are not ruling out the possibility that the suspect might be familiar with the apartment complex &ndash; considering the body was found in a secluded area of the river, an area that the locals do not frequently visit. He mentioned that police would search for evidence at the scene of the incident to aid in identifying the suspect and did not dismiss the possibility that the suspect could be from the area.&nbsp;
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code as a homicide case.

Zayn Rayyan&rsquo;s body was taken to Sungai Buloh Hospital Forensic Department shortly after he was found for autopsy process. His body was taken out from the hospital to Masjid Damansara Damai for prayers before being buried at Section 9 Muslim Cemetery in Kota Damansara yesterday evening.
Neither of the victim&rsquo;s parents or extended family members were available for comments as they were still grieving with the unfortunate news. The public has been advised to refrain from making speculations to avoid disrupting the police investigation.
