With AI increasingly accessible to the average user, it's revolutionizing photo and video editing, streamlining workflows, and enhancing overall efficiency.
Google Photos AI Editing Tool Is Now Free
Google recently unveiled plans to make its AI editing tools available to all users of Google Photos, eliminating the need for a Google One subscription to access these features. Initially, subscribers were required to pay RM7.90 per month to unlock various AI tools within the app.

For avid Google Photos users, a plethora of invaluable features are now within reach, offering the potential to salvage and enhance those precious photos you're eager to share. Among the standout tools are the Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Portrait Light, and the highly anticipated Magic Editor. These AI-powered tools will be accessible to all Google Photos users starting from May 15th, although the rollout will be gradual over the coming weeks. Additionally, iPhone users who utilize Google Photos will also benefit from the inclusion of these AI tools, adding an extra layer of convenience and functionality.
These smart tools provide a simple and accessible way for novice photographers to improve their images without the need for advanced expertise. For example, the anti-blur feature effectively removes blurriness from both portrait and landscape photographs, enhancing overall clarity. Similarly, the Magic Eraser effortlessly eliminates unwanted elements, such as photobombers, from images.
Additionally, Portrait Lighting, as its name implies, allows for brightness adjustments specifically tailored to faces. These AI-powered features are intended to assist users in making their images more appealing, reducing the inclination to delete less satisfactory ones.
Google's Magic Editor made its debut in 2023, debuting on their flagship Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones. Utilizing generative AI, it enabled complex edits such as object repositioning and sky colour alteration in photos. In the latest update, this tool will extend to all Pixel devices throughout their smartphone range, offering users unlimited usage.
Regrettably, for users of other Android devices or iOS, access to the Magic Editor is restricted to 10 saves per month. The sole means of acquiring unlimited access is by subscribing to Google One.
Growing Competition For AI Editing Tools

On the other hand, OnePlus has introduced its AI Eraser tool for select phone models, while OPPO is focusing solely on updating its Reno11 series with the AI Eraser feature.
The question arises: how advanced can AI truly become? With the continuous evolution of technology, particularly online, the potential of AI seems boundless. Speculation has arisen regarding the English Royals, specifically Princess Catherine of Wales, commonly known as Kate Middleton, whose absence has sparked curiosity. Additionally, many have raised suspicions about a video featuring Kate, suggesting it may be AI-generated, particularly after she discussed her abdominal surgery in January.

Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has officially announced his resignation from the Cabinet, ending his tenure as Malaysia&rsquo;s Minister of Economy. In a statement released on 28 May 2025 and echoed in a social media post the same day, Rafizi confirmed that his resignation will take effect on 17 June 2025. He will begin utilising the remainder of his annual leave starting immediately, which will run until 16 June.
&ldquo;I have submitted my resignation letter to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,&rdquo; Rafizi wrote. &ldquo;This resignation takes effect from 17 June. Beginning today, I will be on leave until then.&rdquo;
Stepping Down After Losing Party Mandate

He will be on leave from 29 May until the day before his departure.
In a statement, Nik Nazmi acknowledged that his role as PKR vice-president was a key factor in his Cabinet appointment. With that mandate now lost, he said it was appropriate for him to make way. He also failed to defend his position as Setiawangsa PKR chief during the party&rsquo;s divisional elections last month.

In a significant development for animal welfare in Malaysia, the Kuala Terengganu High Court has dismissed an attempt by the Terengganu state government and the Besut District Council to strike out a lawsuit involving the alleged unlawful killing of a stray dog named Kopi. The decision means the case will proceed to a full hearing, with the court scheduled to deliver its verdict on 13 August 2025.
The lawsuit, brought by four animal rights activists, has drawn national attention and stirred public debate about the treatment of strays and the responsibilities of local authorities. Lawyer Rajesh Nagarajan, representing the plaintiffs, praised the court&rsquo;s ruling as a critical step forward.
&ldquo;This is a huge win for animal rights in Malaysia generally and a positive first step towards obtaining justice for Kopi, who was murdered in cold blood,&rdquo; he told reporters following the decision.

Kopi was a familiar figure in the Besut district, known to many residents and animal lovers for her calm and affectionate demeanour. Her popularity soared in March 2024, after a video went viral on social media showing her gently playing with a stray kitten. The video, uploaded by one of her feeders, Abby Razali, garnered widespread attention and led to a wave of online affection.
But that public goodwill turned into collective outrage when news broke that Kopi had been shot dead during a stray dog culling operation carried out by the Besut District Council. The shooting occurred in the early hours of 6 October 2024, reportedly around 1.30am.
According to Dr Kartini Farah Abdul Rahim, one of the plaintiffs, several residents were awakened by the sound of gunshots. Upon investigating, they observed three council officers driving around in a pick-up truck. Shortly after, Kopi was found dead from gunshot wounds. Her death, initially revealed via a post on the &ldquo;My Forever Doggo&rdquo; Instagram account, prompted widespread condemnation and demands for accountability.
Legal Grounds: Alleged Breach of Animal Welfare Law

Shashi Kumar &mdash; are contending that the use of firearms to kill the dog and the unnecessary suffering inflicted on her contravene Sections 29(e) and 30(1) of the Act.
Section 29(e) prohibits causing unnecessary pain or suffering to animals, while Section 30(1) forbids the killing of animals using a firearm, except under specific conditions outlined in Section 30(2). These exceptions include approval by a veterinary authority, instances where an animal poses imminent danger to human life, or where such action is necessary to control the spread of disease.
The plaintiffs are therefore seeking a declaration from the court that the use of firearms in this case was not legally justified, and that the authorities acted beyond the bounds of the law.
Challenging Local By-Laws
Beyond the immediate question of Kopi&rsquo;s death, the case also seeks to address a broader legal conflict between federal and local regulations. The activists are challenging the legality of the Besut District Council&rsquo;s Dog Licensing By-Laws 1990, specifically Sections 9(1) and 9(2), which empower council officers to shoot licensed or unlicensed dogs if no owner can be located.
The plaintiffs argue that these by-laws are incompatible with the stricter protections afforded by the Animal Welfare Act, a federal law that supersedes local legislation. They assert that allowing council officers to indiscriminately kill strays undermines national legal standards and sets a dangerous precedent.
Government and Council&rsquo;s Defence

A statement issued by the Besut District Council on 13 October 2024 maintained that the actions taken during the culling operation were lawful. However, this justification has failed to appease critics, who argue that even if procedures were followed, the procedures themselves may be unlawful under federal law.
A Moment of Reckoning for Animal Welfare in Malaysia
The case has galvanised animal rights supporters across the country and is being closely watched by legal experts, animal advocacy groups, and members of the public alike. Many see it as a test of Malaysia&rsquo;s commitment to upholding the protections enshrined in the Animal Welfare Act.

These dates follow a busy summer schedule across South Korea, North America, and Europe. The tour begins in Goyang, South Korea in early July, before heading to major global cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, New York, Paris, Milan, Barcelona, and London &mdash; where BLACKPINK will headline two nights at Wembley Stadium on 15 and 16 August.
Record-Breaking Legacy and High Expectations

With DEADLINE, YG Entertainment promises to deliver a tour &ldquo;at the peak of BLACKPINK&rsquo;s performance history.&rdquo; The label highlighted the intense preparation and focus behind the scenes &mdash; fitting for a group that continues to set industry standards for K-pop on the world stage.

A Visa-exclusive presale for Asia begins on 11 June at 11AM Singapore time for Visa Infinite cardholders, followed by broader access for all Visa users later that day.
