Are you a fan of Trading Card Games (TCGs)? If you&rsquo;re active on social media, especially TikTok, you&rsquo;ve probably noticed the surge in buying, selling, and trading Pok&eacute;mon cards, with both new and classic editions gaining popularity&mdash;and significant market value.
However, with so much shifting online, finding a dedicated TCG shop in person can be a bit challenging. While they do exist, they&rsquo;re not as widely accessible as you might expect.
Fortunately, one Malaysian developer has made it easier for everyone to experience the TCG shop environment virtually with a new simulator game!
Meet The M&rsquo;sian Developer Behind &lsquo;TCG Card Shop Simulator&rsquo;

When &lsquo;TCG Card Shop Simulator&rsquo;, a new simulation game, achieved remarkable commercial success in September, few realized it was the work of a solo developer from Malaysia. It wasn&rsquo;t until independent developer Sia Ding Shen shared screenshots on Reddit&mdash;featuring the Malaysian Ringgit (RM) as a tribute to his heritage&mdash;that players recognized the game as proudly &lsquo;Buatan Malaysia&rsquo; (Made in Malaysia).
The game now holds an &lsquo;Overwhelmingly Positive&rsquo; rating on Steam, with 97% of its 20,826 reviews being favourable. In an interview, Sia, 33, shared insights into his development journey and his introduction to collectable card games (CCGs), or trading card games. His interest in titles like &lsquo;Magic: The Gathering&rsquo; and the &lsquo;Digimon Card Game&rsquo; was sparked by former colleagues, igniting a passion that would eventually inspire his game.

For those unfamiliar, TCGs can become quite expensive, and Ding Shen initially took a break from the hobby as the costs of collecting trading cards started to add up. However, he admitted that the desire to continue collecting never fully went away, which ultimately led to the creation of &rsquo;TCG Card Shop Simulator&rsquo;. The game allowed him to satisfy that craving at an affordable price.
How Was Sia&rsquo;s Journey In Game Development? 
Created by Sia&rsquo;s Selangor-based studio, OPNeon Games, &lsquo;TCG Card Shop Simulator&rsquo; launched on Steam on September 15.
The gameplay is straightforward: players take on the role of trading card shop owners, selling booster packs to earn profits and grow their own card shop empires.

In the game&rsquo;s fictional world, the collectable card game (CCG) centres around fantasy creatures known as Tetramons from the imaginary game &lsquo;Tetramon Duel Master&rsquo;.
&ldquo;As a kid, I loved playing video games and spent more hours gaming than studying,&rdquo; shares Sia, who uses the moniker OPNeon on Reddit.
At 15, he began teaching himself programming to create his own games, though he never imagined it could become a career. Over time, he developed a few games independently, but feeling unsatisfied with the in-game artwork, he decided to study digital animation at The One Academy to enhance his art skills.
During his studies, Sia paused his game development to focus on animation instead.
After graduating in 2012, Sia joined the Malaysian game development studio Passion Republic, an animator for AAA titles&mdash;high-profile, big-budget games&mdash;such as &lsquo;Elden Ring&rsquo;, &lsquo;Diablo IV&rsquo;, and &lsquo;The Last of Us Part II&rsquo;.
Around three years later, he transitioned into a technical artist role, focusing on rigging and scripting within the studio. This shift reignited his passion for game development, and he started creating his own games in his spare time.
&ldquo;I worked on mobile games solo, keeping the projects small to ensure I could finish them, with the goal of creating one game a year to stay motivated,&rdquo; he explained.

His first breakthrough was &lsquo;Sumiken&rsquo;, a mobile game inspired by traditional sumi-e (ink wash) painting and the critically acclaimed action-adventure game &lsquo;Okami&rsquo;, which was released in 2017.

Five years later, Sia completed &lsquo;Idle Card Shop Tycoon&rsquo;, a game that would eventually lay the groundwork for &lsquo;TCG Card Shop Simulator&rsquo;. The game quickly became a commercial hit, amassing over a million downloads to date. That was also the moment he decided to quit Passion Republic and shift focus to solo game development which is something he always wanted to do.
&ldquo;As a solo developer, I outsourced the game&rsquo;s artwork to different freelance artists and purchased game assets like 3D models, icons, music and sound effects from the Unity Asset Store. Everything else is done by myself,&rdquo; he said.
One of the toughest challenges in game development is understanding what players truly want; it&rsquo;s easy to invest time into features that might not actually resonate with them. That&rsquo;s why Sia opted to release the game in early access, enabling him to quickly gather feedback and make adjustments based on players&rsquo; preferences.
Though the game saw a successful early access launch, it faced some criticism for using AI-generated art for its collectible cards. In response, Sia took the feedback to heart, promptly working with artists to update the artwork and replace the images in question.

TCG Card Shop Sold A Million Over Copies After Its Launch

Since its launch, &lsquo;TCG Card Shop Simulator&rsquo; has sold over a million copies worldwide, according to Sia. The game&rsquo;s swift rise in popularity was partly fuelled by Hololive Production, one of the world&rsquo;s leading VTuber agencies, whose talents in Japan, Indonesia, and English-speaking regions began streaming it to their audiences.
&ldquo;I honestly didn&rsquo;t expect the game to gain this level of popularity,&rdquo; Sia shared. &ldquo;My initial goal was to sell 100,000 copies within a year, which I would have been thrilled with.&rdquo;
With the game&rsquo;s success far exceeding his expectations, Sia expressed gratitude for the support and feedback from players. Looking ahead, he plans to keep updating the game over the next year until it&rsquo;s fully complete.
When asked about expanding his team, Sia said he intends to continue working solo for now, appreciating the flexibility it gives him to focus fully on game development. An in-game roadmap on the main screen highlights the key features he plans to add in upcoming updates.

Pok&eacute;mon fans across Southeast Asia have something major to look forward to, as the Pok&eacute;mon World Championships will be held in Singapore for the first time in 2027. The prestigious global competition will take place from 13 to 15 August 2027 at Singapore EXPO, with the final day, known as Championship Sunday, set to move to the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Pok&eacute;mon World Championships in San Francisco on 30 August, marking a significant milestone for Singapore and the wider Southeast Asian Pok&eacute;mon community. It will also be the competition&rsquo;s first return to Asia since Yokohama, Japan hosted the event in 2023.
Singapore To Host The World&rsquo;s Top Pok&eacute;mon Players

The 2027 competition will feature the Pok&eacute;mon Trading Card Game (TCG), Pok&eacute;mon Video Game Championships (VGC) and Pok&eacute;mon GO, giving different communities of competitive players a chance to battle on the world stage.
Singapore EXPO will host the main three-day event, while Championship Sunday will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium for the tournament&rsquo;s final battles. More details about the exact schedule and activities are expected to be announced at a later date.
A Major First For Southeast Asia

The inaugural edition included activities designed for fans beyond the competitive matches, giving Trainers opportunities to explore the franchise through experiences, community activities and other attractions.
However, specific activities and programming for Pok&eacute;monXP in Singapore have not yet been announced. Fans will need to wait for further details from The Pok&eacute;mon Company as the event approaches.
Pok&eacute;mon UNITE No Longer Part Of Worlds

There will also be a change to the competitive line-up in 2027.
While <a href="https://unite.pokemon.com/en-us/">Pok&eacute;mon UNITE</a> was included in the 2026 World Championships, the game will no longer be part of the main Worlds competition. Instead, Pok&eacute;mon UNITE will move towards a separate standalone tournament format, with further details to be announced.
This leaves Pok&eacute;mon TCG, VGC and Pok&eacute;mon GO as the confirmed competitive games for the 2027 World Championships.
More Pok&eacute;mon Announcements Are Coming

The movie is set to begin releasing in 2027.
Pok&eacute;mon also announced that Z Mega Evolutions will debut in Pok&eacute;mon Champions from 9 September 2026, including Mega Lucario Z, Mega Garchomp Z and Mega Absol Z.

Ticketing information, registration details and the full event programme for the 2027 Pok&eacute;mon World Championships have not yet been released. Malaysia&rsquo;s Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) will summon a Malaysian individual who allegedly took part in the Miss Equality World 2026 transgender beauty pageant in Bangkok, Thailand, after videos of the participant circulated widely on social media.

Reports said the participant was not an official representative of the Malaysian Government. Zulkifli stressed that neither the government nor Malaysia&rsquo;s religious authorities had provided approval, recognition or support for the organisation of or participation in such events.
The controversy intensified after footage showing the participant receiving a Best National Costume award at the pageant was shared online.
JAKIM Says Participation Raises Public Concern

JAKIM director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee described the reported participation as regrettable and said it had caused concern among members of the public.
He said JAKIM would cooperate with state Islamic religious authorities and relevant agencies to summon the individual, with any potential action to be considered based on laws and regulations currently in force.
Sirajuddin also said JAKIM and the state authorities would not compromise with efforts that, in their view, sought to normalise conduct contrary to the religious values outlined in their statement.
Religious Affairs Minister Cites Syariah Law

Zulkifli separately said participation in such events was contrary to Islamic teachings and Malaysia&rsquo;s local cultural values.
He specifically referred to tasyabbuh, an Islamic legal concept concerning imitation of the opposite sex, and said that such conduct, together with what he described as the promotion of a transgender lifestyle, is prohibited under Islamic law and state Syariah laws.
The minister also urged Malaysians not to sensationalise or glorify activities that religious authorities regard as contrary to Syariah principles, instead calling for greater attention to the religious and moral values of the Muslim community.
Potential Legal Action Will Depend On Existing Laws

While the authorities have indicated that legal options will be examined, JAKIM has not announced any specific charge against the participant.
Syariah criminal laws are administered at state level and apply to Muslims within the relevant jurisdiction. Provisions concerning cross-dressing and related conduct vary between states and can contain specific conditions.
For example, Selangor&rsquo;s Syariah Criminal Enactment includes a provision covering men wearing women&rsquo;s clothing or behaving like women in public for an immoral purpose, with penalties of up to RM1,000, six months&rsquo; imprisonment, or both upon conviction.
This means any action against the individual would depend on the applicable state law, the person&rsquo;s circumstances and the findings of the relevant authorities.
Public Reactions Continue Online
The issue has generated significant discussion on social media since the pageant footage began circulating, with Malaysians expressing differing views about the participant&rsquo;s involvement.
Zulkifli said the government&rsquo;s position was that the individual&rsquo;s participation could tarnish Malaysia&rsquo;s international image and was inconsistent with Islamic teachings and local cultural norms. At the same time, authorities reiterated that the participant did not represent the Malaysian Government.
JAKIM To Determine Next Steps
For now, JAKIM&rsquo;s next step is to summon the individual and work with the relevant state religious authorities and agencies before deciding whether further action is warranted.
The case also highlights the distinction between an individual participating in an overseas event and formally representing the Malaysian Government. While the participant was linked to Malaysia through the pageant, officials have made clear that the government did not endorse or recognise the participation.
Further developments are expected once the individual has been contacted and authorities determine whether any existing Syariah provisions or other laws apply.

Ternus is far from a newcomer at Apple. He joined the company in 2001 as part of its Product Design team and became vice president of Hardware Engineering in 2013. In 2021, he was promoted to senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, joining Apple&rsquo;s executive team.
Over more than two decades at the company, Ternus has been involved in the development of major Apple products, overseeing hardware engineering across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods and Apple Vision Pro. He also played an important role in Apple&rsquo;s transition from Intel processors to its own Apple silicon chips.
Before joining Apple, Ternus worked as a mechanical engineer at Virtual Research Systems and holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

Ternus has also wasted little time making his presence known outside Apple Park.
After officially taking over as CEO, he launched an account on X, where his first post was simply the word &ldquo;hello&rdquo;. He joins Cook and Apple marketing chief Greg Joswiak among the company&rsquo;s senior executives with a public presence on the platform.
Ternus was more detailed in his first communication with Apple employees, reportedly thanking Cook for helping with the leadership transition and expressing excitement about the company&rsquo;s upcoming products.

Minister in the Prime Minister&rsquo;s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh and her husband, Ramachandran Muniandy, have divorced after 18 years of marriage, according to information published on Yeoh&rsquo;s official website. The development was also confirmed by her press secretary, Ahmad Fazli Mohd Yadi, who asked the public to give Yeoh space and said no further details would be provided for now.

Hannah Yeoh is a prominent Malaysian politician and lawyer who has represented Segambut in Parliament since 2018.

Yeoh later moved into federal politics, serving as Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister from 2018 to 2020. She returned to the Cabinet in 2022 as Youth and Sports Minister, a position she held until 2025.

On 7 September 1996, Tupac was travelling in a BMW driven by Death Row Records co-founder Marion &ldquo;Suge&rdquo; Knight when a white Cadillac pulled alongside them at a red light near the Las Vegas Strip. Tupac was shot four times and died from his injuries six days later, on 13 September 1996. His death turned him into an enduring cultural figure, with his music and influence continuing to shape hip-hop generations later.
Jury Finds Keffe D Guilty After Decades Of Mystery

Davis was convicted of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon for his role in orchestrating Tupac&rsquo;s killing.
Prosecutors argued throughout the trial that Davis did not need to be the gunman to be held responsible. Instead, they portrayed him as the person who organised the attack, obtained the firearm and directed the group involved in the shooting.
According to prosecutors, the motive was retaliation after Davis&rsquo; nephew, Orlando &ldquo;Baby Lane&rdquo; Anderson, became involved in a fight with Tupac and members of his entourage at a Las Vegas casino earlier that night.
Authorities said Davis and several other men subsequently went searching for Tupac and Knight in a white Cadillac. When they found the pair&rsquo;s BMW at a traffic light, someone in the back seat opened fire.
Davis was the only person from the Cadillac who was still alive by the time the case eventually reached court. Anderson, who was long suspected of being the gunman, died in an unrelated shooting in 1998 and was never charged over Tupac&rsquo;s death.
Davis&rsquo; Own Words Became Key Evidence

Prosecutors argued that Davis had effectively been telling the story of his involvement for years, even though he claimed he was not the person who pulled the trigger.
His later public statements helped investigators build a case against him. Prosecutors also relied on recordings in which Davis described the events surrounding Tupac&rsquo;s death, arguing that his repeated accounts showed he had played a central role in the attack.
Under Nevada law, a person can be held criminally responsible for murder even when they did not personally fire the fatal shots if they intentionally helped facilitate the killing.
Defence Says Davis&rsquo; Story Was Fiction

Davis pleaded not guilty and maintained that he did not murder Tupac.

His lawyer, Michael Sanft, told jurors that authorities lacked physical evidence directly connecting Davis to the killing and described his public accounts as unreliable. Despite those arguments, the jury ultimately accepted the prosecution&rsquo;s case and found Davis guilty after deliberating for less than three hours.
