Without any further communication from BigPay, Law says she was blindsided months later by two Malaysian banks. She was informed that her accounts were being closed and that her name had been flagged as a &ldquo;mule&rdquo; &mdash; a person suspected of aiding in the laundering of illicit funds, whether knowingly or unknowingly.
That label carried grave implications: her access to savings was revoked, she could no longer apply for credit cards or personal loans, and her plans to purchase a home were derailed.
&ldquo;I wasn&rsquo;t even told exactly what I had done wrong. One day, I just received calls saying I was blacklisted. That&rsquo;s when my nightmare truly began,&rdquo; she said.
She attempted to clear her name by submitting evidence and formal letters to the banks, but each time, the reply was the same: &ldquo;Sorry, this is our policy. We can&rsquo;t help you.&rdquo;
A Delayed Admission of Error

In April 2025 &mdash; more than a year after the initial incident &mdash; BigPay allegedly admitted that they had mistakenly triggered the fraud alert over a RM10.44 refund that had been processed incorrectly. Law claims that the company told her the issue had been resolved and that the &ldquo;mule&rdquo; label had been lifted. But her relief was short-lived.
&ldquo;They wouldn&rsquo;t provide anything in writing. No formal statement, no apology, nothing that I could show to the banks or future lenders. I kept asking, but they kept dodging,&rdquo; she said in a widely shared Instagram post.
Emotional Toll and Health Decline
The psychological and emotional impact of the ordeal has been profound. Law revealed that the stress of being wrongly accused and financially frozen led to serious health issues, including insomnia and a thyroid condition, which now requires daily medication.
&ldquo;I can&rsquo;t sleep. I have constant anxiety. My heart races even when I sit down,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;I never thought something so small could turn into a prison sentence without walls.&rdquo;
Social Media Uproar and Plea for Help
As her videos and posts began circulating widely online, the story struck a chord with thousands of Malaysians. Many expressed outrage that such a minor incident could spiral into financial devastation with little recourse for the individual involved.
In one of her most moving messages, Law asked: &ldquo;If it were you &mdash; if you were wrongly accused and blacklisted, what would you do? How would you fight it?&rdquo;

Unique Cartridge IDs and Unintended Consequences

Frightened, shocked, and alone, the boy locked himself in the bathroom for five hours, hiding until the ustaz fell asleep. He then managed to escape and contacted a family member. A police report was promptly lodged.

Afiq has been a Grab rider for over two to three years, and he is quick to shut down any myths about easy money. While his earnings are impressive, he stresses that they are the result of clear goals, daily routines, and a willingness to endure discomfort.
He keeps detailed records, sets weekly targets (like hitting 180 orders), and takes advantage of platform incentives. On one particular week in May, he earned S$1,283 before incentives, and an additional S$150 bonus for reaching his delivery goal.
But it&rsquo;s not all sunshine and windfalls. &ldquo;If I take a week off, my income drops to around S$4,000,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;But if I work every day &mdash; seven days a week for the whole month &mdash; I can get close to S$7,000.&rdquo;

Beyond the earnings, Afiq says his decision to live in Johor Bahru has made him happier overall. Compared to Singapore&rsquo;s dense, fast-paced lifestyle, JB offers him space, peace of mind, and a more relaxed pace of life &mdash; without compromising his income.
&ldquo;I feel less stressed, less cramped, and more at peace,&rdquo; he shared. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s the best of both worlds &mdash; I earn in Singapore, but I live in comfort in Malaysia.&rdquo;
No Career Ladder, But a Path to Freedom
While Afiq is proud of his achievements, he is realistic about the nature of platform work. &ldquo;There&rsquo;s no promotion, no HR department planning your career,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s not for everyone. You have to make it work for you.&rdquo;
He praises Grab for offering workshops and training to equip riders with skills, but maintains that success ultimately depends on personal discipline. &ldquo;The flexibility is great &mdash; but don&rsquo;t misuse it. Set goals. Stick to them. Show up every day.&rdquo;
And that, according to Afiq, is how a rider becomes not just self-sufficient, but successful.

From 1st July 2025, Malaysians will be able to renew and activate their My50 unlimited travel pass entirely through the Touch &lsquo;n Go (TNG) eWallet app, as part of a nationwide push to digitalise public transport systems.
The days of long queues at Rapid KL counters may soon be over. According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, in partnership with Touch &lsquo;n Go, has launched a digital version of the My50 Travel Pass, offering greater convenience for urban commuters.

Previously, renewing the monthly pass required commuters to line up and use their MyKad (NRIC) for activation. With the new system, users can perform the entire process from their smartphones in a matter of minutes &mdash; eliminating wait times that could previously stretch to 45 minutes or more at peak hours.
&ldquo;This move aligns with our efforts to modernise public transport and push towards a fully digital and cashless society,&rdquo; said Loke during the launch. &ldquo;A world-class public transport system is not just about having trains and buses; it&rsquo;s also about seamless digital infrastructure.&rdquo;
How It Works: My50 on Your Phone

To renew or activate the My50 Travel Pass through the TNG eWallet app, users must have:

<li>A verified TNG eWallet account with eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) completed</li>

Step-by-step guide to renewal:

<li>Open the TNG eWallet app and complete eKYC if you haven&rsquo;t already.</li>
<li>Go to &ldquo;Travel Pass&rdquo; via the &ldquo;More&rdquo; tab on the home screen.</li>
<li>Tap your NFC-enabled TNG card on your phone to link it.</li>
<li>Select the My50 Travel Pass and your preferred activation date.</li>
<li>Agree to the terms and complete payment.</li>
<li>Tap your TNG card again to activate the pass.</li>
</ol>
The entire process can be done from home or on the go. Once activated, users will enjoy 30 days of unlimited rides on all Rapid KL services &ndash; including LRT, MRT, BRT, Monorail, and feeder buses &ndash; all for RM50 per month.
It&rsquo;s important to note that the My50 pass is only available to Malaysian citizens, and each pass can only be linked to one Touch &lsquo;n Go card at a time. A minimum card balance of RM5 is still required when using the pass on public transport.
A Boon for 250,000+ Users &mdash; and Growing

As of 2024, the My50 Travel Pass had benefited over 180,000 commuters in the Klang Valley. That number is expected to grow significantly with the rollout of the digital version.
Prasarana CEO Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah said that the digital upgrade is designed to enhance user experience by reducing friction and expanding access to more tech-savvy urban dwellers.
&ldquo;This step is not just about saving time,&rdquo; said Azharuddin. &ldquo;It enhances the travel experience by giving more flexibility and convenience to passengers.&rdquo;
Part of a Bigger Digital Vision
The My50 digitalisation is part of a broader agenda to overhaul Malaysia&rsquo;s public transport infrastructure into a smarter, more efficient system. Loke confirmed that similar upgrades will be applied to other offerings, including the MyCity Pass, later this year.
He also called on public transport operators nationwide to adopt emerging technologies like AI-driven payment systems, to improve service quality and reduce human error.
&ldquo;All future town developments must consider smart mobility infrastructure such as integrated public transport hubs, walkable streets, and proper bus stops,&rdquo; Loke added, emphasising the need for holistic transport planning.
No Plans to Retire MyKad Activation (Yet)

For those not ready to switch to the digital route, the MyKad-based renewal system will remain available for now. However, authorities are hopeful that the convenience and speed of the digital option will eventually make it the default choice for most users.
With over a quarter million users expected to benefit from the update, Prasarana is confident this initiative will also help boost public transport usage in a car-dependent society.
