Kuala Lumpur-based idol group KLP48 is preparing to mark a remarkable milestone&mdash;its first anniversary&mdash;with a commemorative concert titled &ldquo;〜BLOOM〜&rdquo;. The highly anticipated event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 16 August 2025, at Zepp Kuala Lumpur, one of the city&rsquo;s premier live performance venues.
Formed in 2024 under the globally recognised AKB48 franchise, KLP48 is not just another idol group&mdash;it is the embodiment of Southeast Asian cultural diversity brought into the global spotlight. Since their debut, the group has carved out a name for itself in both local and international idol scenes, showcasing a strong blend of discipline, charm, and multiculturalism.
From Local Roots to Global Stages

Debuting in July 2024, KLP48 is Malaysia&rsquo;s first homegrown sister group of Japan&rsquo;s iconic AKB48 franchise. Formed under 48 Entertainment in partnership with Sony Music Malaysia, KLP48 brings the beloved Japanese idol culture to Southeast Asia with a distinct local twist.
The group currently consists of 13 members from diverse cultural backgrounds: seven Malaysians, four Japanese, one Indonesian, and one from Hong Kong. Several members are former performers of AKB48 and STU48, bringing both professional polish and a deep understanding of idol dynamics to the fledgling ensemble. The group is led by Malaysian member Yi Shyan, with other notable names including Salwa, Amanda, and Haruka.

KLP48 officially debuted with a performance at the AKB48 Group Live in KL 2024: First Cry at Zepp Kuala Lumpur and released their first digital single, &ldquo;Heavy Rotation&rdquo;, shortly after. This was followed by subsequent releases like &ldquo;Alasanku Maybe&rdquo; in April 2025 and &ldquo;Flying Get&rdquo; in May, further building their discography and fanbase.
In just one year, KLP48 has achieved milestones many new idol groups only dream of. They&rsquo;ve performed on international platforms, gained recognition in Japanese media, and steadily cultivated a loyal global fanbase. Each purchase is limited to two tickets per transaction, with a RM4 processing fee applicable.
