<p>Animal lovers across Malaysia have been left appalled after shocking allegations of cruelty towards cats surfaced at Pangsapuri Seri Nilam in Bandar Baru Ampang. The incident has raised serious concerns over public apathy, the exploitation of children, and the failure of authorities to intervene in time to prevent repeated acts of brutality against defenceless animals.</p>
<p>Animal rights activist Shima Aris took to social media to expose what she described as an ongoing pattern of feline abuse in the apartment complex. According to her post, several cats &mdash; both strays and pets &mdash; were not only poisoned but also believed to have been thrown from the upper floors of the building. Even more disturbing, she alleged that certain individuals were paying children to carry out the killings, using them as proxies to avoid detection.</p>
<p>&ldquo;These cowards don&rsquo;t even have the spine to do it themselves anymore &ndash; because they know they&rsquo;re being watched. So instead, they exploit kids to carry out their cruelty. What kind of generation are you raising? Teaching children to harm innocent animals for money? This is beyond sick,&rdquo; she wrote in an Instagram post.</p>
<p>Her post included graphic images of dead cats discovered in and around the premises, some of which appeared to have been mutilated.</p>

In the message, one user openly admitted to placing rat poison in multiple public areas of the flats, including stairwells and lift lobbies, threatening to target any cat that roamed freely.</p>
<p>&ldquo;To irresponsible cat owners and cat lovers, you will suffer the consequences of causing trouble to your neighbours,&rdquo; the message read.<br />&ldquo;From today onwards, I will place rat poison in front of the unit door on the third floor of the apartment, next to the lift door and in the stairwell. If you love your cat, keep them inside the house and don&rsquo;t let them roam around.&rdquo;</p>
<p>While the message has been reported to the police, no concrete action or updates have been provided, leaving residents and activists increasingly frustrated.</p>
<p><strong>Cleaners Report a Disturbing Pattern</strong></p>

Many of the animals showed signs consistent with poisoning, while others were found with broken limbs and other injuries that suggest they had been thrown from significant heights.</p>
<p>This isn&rsquo;t an isolated incident. Residents claimed that threats against cats in the area have been made for months, with at least one tenant previously warning others that he would &ldquo;kill the cats with poison.&rdquo; That tenant has not been publicly identified, and no further developments have been disclosed.</p>

<p>Animal rights advocates have urged residents to continue documenting and reporting abuse while also pressing the authorities to introduce more stringent penalties for cruelty. They also stress the need for community engagement programmes to educate children and families about empathy, responsibility, and ethical animal treatment.</p>
<p>As of now, no arrests or charges have been made in connection with the Pangsapuri Seri Nilam incidents. The DVS has not released an official statement, and residents say they are still waiting for meaningful action.</p>

<p>The Shah Alam Line will operate using modern three-car trainsets manufactured by CRRC Zhuzhou.</p>
<p>Each train can accommodate up to 624 passengers, helping to support high commuter volumes during peak travel periods.</p>
<p>To encourage greater use of public transport, several stations along the route have also been equipped with Park &amp; Ride facilities.</p>
<p>Stations offering these facilities include:</p>

<p>Beyond reducing travel times, the project is also expected to support broader efforts to increase public transport usage and strengthen connectivity between existing rail networks.</p>

The reports quickly sparked confusion among motorists, many of whom rely on affordable sunshades to reduce heat inside their vehicles during Malaysia&rsquo;s hot weather.</p>
<p>Following widespread public concern and debate online, Transport Minister Anthony Loke has now stepped forward to clarify the situation, assuring motorists that they will not face enforcement action as long as their sunshades do not obstruct the driver&rsquo;s view while driving.</p>

<p>The controversy began after the Road Transport Department (JPJ) reminded motorists that removable sunshades, curtains, blinds and similar accessories attached to vehicle windows while a vehicle is in motion could potentially constitute an offence under the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Certain Types of Glass) Rules 1991.</p>
<p>According to JPJ, such accessories may create blind spots, reduce a driver&rsquo;s field of vision and make it more difficult to observe surrounding traffic, pedestrians and changing road conditions. The department also noted that window coverings could hinder enforcement officers from observing activities inside a vehicle, including seatbelt usage and mobile phone violations.</p>
<p>The reminder led to widespread discussion across social media, with many Malaysians questioning why inexpensive mesh sunshades could potentially attract penalties while heavily tinted rear windows remain permissible under current regulations.</p>
<p>For many drivers, removable sunshades have become a practical solution to combat Malaysia&rsquo;s tropical heat. Basic clip-on or magnetic shades can be purchased for a relatively low cost, whereas premium heat-reducing tint films often cost significantly more.</p>
<p><strong>Anthony Loke Clarifies Government&rsquo;s Position</strong></p>
<p>In response to the growing confusion, Loke clarified that while provisions relating to removable sunshades do exist within current regulations, authorities are not actively targeting motorists who use them responsibly.</p>
<p>He explained that the Ministry of Transport has not instructed JPJ to carry out enforcement operations against motorists using removable sunshades that do not interfere with visibility.</p>
<p>According to the minister, JPJ&rsquo;s director-general has likewise not issued any directive requiring officers to take action against motorists simply for having removable sunshades installed.</p>
<p>Instead, enforcement action would only be considered if the accessory obstructs the driver&rsquo;s vision and creates a potential safety hazard on the road.</p>
<p><strong>Road Safety Remains The Priority</strong></p>

<p>While clarifying that sunshades are not currently an enforcement priority, Loke stressed that visibility remains an important safety consideration.</p>
<p>Drivers are still expected to ensure that any sunshade, curtain or window covering does not block their ability to see surrounding traffic, pedestrians, road signs, side mirrors or other critical sightlines needed for safe driving.</p>
<p>The minister explained that JPJ&rsquo;s current focus remains on offences that pose a much greater risk to public safety, including illegal street racing, mat rempit activities, drunk driving and reckless driving.</p>
<p>These offences, he said, have a far greater impact on road safety and therefore receive greater enforcement attention than removable sunshades.</p>
<p><strong>Can Motorists Continue Using Sunshades?</strong></p>

<p>Despite the clarification, some motorists have argued that uncertainty still exists because determining whether visibility is obstructed can sometimes be subjective.</p>
<p>Many have called for clearer written guidance from JPJ outlining what types of sunshades are acceptable and how officers assess whether visibility has been compromised.</p>
<p>For now, however, the message from the Transport Ministry is straightforward: removable sunshades are not a priority for enforcement, provided they do not obstruct the driver&rsquo;s view or endanger road users.</p>
