Unpopular opinions such as lawyers are (good) liars, politicians sound more politikus, teacher profession is not worth anymore, accountants have nothing else to do but numbers in their life, and the list goes on.
Generally, society would view people based on the what they do for a living and the logic is there.

Not all superheroes wear cape, some wear helmets.
Every cloud has a silver lining. The strike of Covid-19 to some extent had opened the eyes of the community and take delivery riders&rsquo; occupation seriously where they have committed to their job delivering food to houses, buildings, and premises from a location to another continuously every single day.
Apart from that, countless times we heard of our delivery riders have been always the ones who lend a hand whenever there were accidents on the roads too.
They are not the only delivery rider. They are front liners and superheroes!

Since the movement control order (MCO) took place on March 18, two major food delivery services have increased the number of riders working for them to meet increasing demand.

Foodpanda Malaysia&rsquo;s head of logistic, Shubham Saran shared that there had&nbsp;been a 7.5 percent rise in the number of delivery guys for his organization and a 37 percent increase in employment applications.
He mentioned his company had begun to hire significant numbers of new riders a week before March 18 last year.
Despite how some people might view this industry as something "less important" rather than other occupations, still many people opt for food delivery riders as a valid option to commit as a part-time job.
Let's take a moment for a while and re-think this. Is it true that Malaysians have really &lsquo;opened up&rsquo; their eyes about this occupation of delivery riders?

Life without delivery riders? Nightmares. 
Delivery riders have been the unsung heroes who brave the insane roads and streets every day. Who knew that delivery riders can also be friendly and were so much informative if one takes the chance to get to know more about their experience in this said industry.
Team MYC! has decided to take this opportunity to bring the delivery rider's topic to public attention especially of how much people have perhaps underestimated or overlooked this occupation within the community. A few interview sessions have been carried out recently from two major food delivery companies of their riders regarding current issues and the reality of being a delivery rider nowadays based on their own experiences in ways we could never think of before.
Nor Adlan Nordin, an officer of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (Jabatan Kastam Diraja Malaysia) shared how was his journey so far as a part-time Foodpanda rider since Covid-19 since last year, in an engaging conversation we had.

Y'all better be good because police can rock in a pink shirt as well.
Adlan told that it takes a good time management skills to multitask his limited time in fulfilling the responsibilities as a police officer and a food delivery rider. Both consume a lot of energy and time daily however, with a day that can profit him at least RM120 roughly, it was worth of sacrifices especially in the hurdles of pandemic and the uncertainty of the economy nowadays.
He told that "My duty as a police officer would require two to three days a week so whenever I have my off days, I&rsquo;d usually work (as a Foodpanda rider) from 10 am until around 12 pm and the profit gained from the service would roughly cost me RM120. It depends on what &lsquo;batch&rsquo; one belongs to in the food runner system based on his or her performance as a delivery rider.
"But I can't lie, it is such an exhausting commitment but it is worth my time. I want to improve myself better in time,' said the 23-year-old rider when asked why does food delivery service become his choice as a second job at the moment.
The fact that a motorcycle is indeed a perfect vehicle to get around conveniently compared to cars especially in the middle of busy traffic in a packed city, motorcyclists are more likely exposed to risks of any possible physical injuries on the road.
Adlan agreed as he explained it further, "I am aware of the mentioned risk (road accidents). It is the worst thing that could ever happen to any motorcyclist. Thus, there is no safety management system adopted by the company for their riders so we (delivery riders) have to take care of our self.
He proceeded, "Every occupation has its commitments. Since this job offers flexible time to fit into my schedule and it pays not bad, I consider this (the challenges) as an opportunity instead."
On the other hand, another Foodpanda rider Mohamad Aiman Mohamad Razi also viewed this industry as a great opportunity to improve his side income with flexible working hours.

As a delivery rider who can make roughly RM280 a day, Aiman said that it is the attitude that rules the game. He casually pinned, &ldquo;There is nothing complicated about this job. How much you put your effort into the job by delivering the order to the customers, that&rsquo;s how much you get paid for.
&ldquo;As a full-time delivery rider in Kangar, Perlis, I have to make sure that my motorcycle is always in a good condition. I don't have to spend much on the maintenance since motorcycle only needs to monitor its engine oil and chain in two months in a time if you take good care of your motorcycle well-being," he laughed.
Better pay than sitting in an office.
Nevertheless, the reality delivery riders ought to deal with is the ultimate weather of Malaysia in attempt to send their customers food on time and safely.
Although Malaysia is known for its equatorial climate, our unpredictable weather sometimes can be blazing hot and the other days are pouring heavily, delivery riders ought to step up their game to overcome the challenge and run their job smoothly.
Both delivery riders proposed that the weather is not something that any of us could have control over it, so they took the initiative to wear long sleeves gloves, a secured face mask, and always have their raincoats prepared with them at all times.
Stigma against delivery rider
People and stigma against the occupation can never be separated as mentioned earlier. When it comes to the delivery rider, some would say those delivery riders are always riding dangerously on the road and often hit the red light because they tend to "catch up" with the customers' orders.

A Grabfood delivery rider who is also a Bachelor of Pharmacy student, Kasyful Azhim Zainal shared his opinion, "I cannot deny that there are delivery riders that hit the red lights, etc and what is wrong, is wrong. They shouldn't be too focused on the orders alone and risk their lives and others.
"Hence, every occupation in this world has its challenges and none of us could escape from the society's stigma.
"People can judge all they want but they have no right to decide what's the best for us. Believe in ourselves and don't let people's voices stop us from doing what we want."
As a front liner, Kasyful takes a serious prevention in reducing the spread of SARS-CoV-2 while fulfilling his responsibility as a food delivery rider.
&ldquo;The (Covid-19) cases are still high and the lifted MCO shouldn&rsquo;t be a reason for us to take the pandemic as something come and go. Like other (delivery) riders, I strictly follow the SOP, wear mask, and keep my distance with customers when working,&rdquo; he said in the interview session.
Could not agree more with what Kasyful had to say about caring too much about others' thoughts rather than ours. After all, life is not about the destination but the journey along the way.

Conscious or not, the delivery rider actually plays a very important role in our community to ensure the nation runs smoothly while in effort to curb the pandemic spread. Regardless of the what occupation that people are committing to, we should respect each other and spread kindness to make the world a better place to live. Don&rsquo;t be a Karen.
People are entitled to their own challenges with different solutions. Everyone does not have to be a doctor, a lawyer, an auditor, or even a delivery rider exactly to meet the life purposes. We just have to be ourself and that is enough.

Malaysian K-pop fans have more to look forward to this year as rising boy group 82MAJOR (에이티투메이저) is officially set to return to Kuala Lumpur for their first full concert. Back in February 2025, 82MAJOR visited Malaysia for the first time, holding a warm and intimate fan event at SEGi University in Kota Damansara. Who Are 82MAJOR?

The United States will impose a sweeping 25% tariff on all Malaysian products entering the country from 1 August 2025. The move, announced by former US President Donald J. Trump in an official letter dated 7 July to both Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, signals a significant escalation in US-Malaysia trade relations.
Trump cited longstanding grievances over Malaysia&rsquo;s trade practices, specifically &ldquo;tariff, non-tariff policies and trade barriers&rdquo; that he claims have created an &ldquo;unsustainable&rdquo; trade deficit. The letter, also posted on his Truth Social platform, reflects the former president&rsquo;s familiar stance on rebalancing trade ties with US partners.
&ldquo;Relationship Has Been Far From Reciprocal&rdquo;

In the letter, Trump acknowledged the longstanding economic partnership between the two countries but insisted it had been one-sided.

The blanket 25% tariff will be imposed across all sectors, separate from any existing sectoral tariffs. These include additional levies&mdash;25% on automotive exports and up to 50% on steel and aluminium products&mdash;affecting manufacturing-heavy countries in the region.
No Tariff for US-Based Manufacturing

&ldquo;There will be no tariff if Malaysia, or companies within your country, decide to build or manufacture products within the United States,&rdquo; he said, adding that his administration would facilitate swift approvals &ldquo;in a matter of weeks.&rdquo;
Warning Against Retaliation and Transshipping

Additionally, goods transshipped from or through Malaysia to avoid higher tariffs will also be taxed at the highest applicable rate. This measure is in line with Washington&rsquo;s broader clampdown on transshipments&mdash;especially from China&mdash;via third countries in Southeast Asia.
The tariff rate, initially announced as 24% in April under Trump&rsquo;s &ldquo;Liberation Day Tariffs&rdquo; package targeting 49 countries, was temporarily paused for 90 days to allow for negotiations. Malaysia held formal trade talks in Washington from 18&ndash;20 June and had expressed hope for concessions, particularly for its electronics and export manufacturing sectors.
However, with talks yielding little progress, Trump extended the pause by three weeks before increasing the tariff rate by one point to 25%.
Part of Wider Regional Clampdown
Malaysia is not alone in facing higher US import duties. Japan and South Korea were also notified of a 25% tariff, while Indonesia faces a 32% rate, Thailand 36%, and Laos and Myanmar 40%&mdash;down from Trump&rsquo;s earlier April figures. Cambodia, meanwhile, saw its proposed tariff reduced from 49% to 36%.
Notably, Malaysia&rsquo;s inclusion alongside close US allies Japan and South Korea was seen by some as a sign of parity, albeit a painful one.
&ldquo;We are in the same club,&rdquo; one senior Malaysian trade official remarked anonymously, &ldquo;but we expected some reduction&mdash;not a hike.&rdquo;
Market Concerns and Economic Impact

Trump&rsquo;s Unpredictable Trade Playbook
Trump&rsquo;s move follows a familiar pattern&mdash;announce a tariff, offer a deadline, and extend it if needed. With the 1 August deadline looming, many wonder whether another delay is in store&mdash;or if this time, the tariffs will truly take effect.
Wendy Cutler, former US trade negotiator, said the timing may still allow room for breakthroughs. &ldquo;While the news is disappointing, it doesn&rsquo;t mean the game is over,&rdquo; she noted, pointing out that last-minute deals, like the one recently struck with Vietnam, could still emerge.
Malaysia&rsquo;s Next Move
As of now, Putrajaya has yet to issue an official response to the new 25% tariff. However, trade officials say negotiations will continue. Malaysia remains hopeful that diplomacy can still bring relief to its crucial export sectors and mitigate the blow to its economy.

A group of over 30 cyclists has triggered widespread backlash after sharing a video online depicting a confrontation with a RapidKL bus driver along Jalan Bestari, Kuala Selangor. The incident, which took place on the morning of Sunday, 6 July, was initially intended to expose what the cyclists described as dangerous and aggressive driving. Instead, it drew unexpected public sympathy for the bus driver and ignited a broader debate about road etiquette in Malaysia.
Cyclists Accuse Driver of Reckless Behaviour

In the viral video, the cyclists alleged they were riding safely on the left-most lane of the road when the bus driver approached at high speed and allegedly swerved dangerously close to their formation. According to one of the cyclists who posted on TikTok under the username @spaceramenn, &ldquo;He almost hit our cyclists while the right lane was empty. He could&rsquo;ve just moved to the right lane for a few seconds.&rdquo;
The group claimed the incident wasn&rsquo;t isolated. They accused the driver of having behaved similarly earlier that morning, suggesting a pattern of intimidation. Matters escalated when the bus came to a halt, and the driver exited the vehicle to confront the cyclists directly. According to their post, the driver attempted to physically assault one of them, kicking at a cyclist during the roadside argument.
Public Shaming Backfires: Personal Info Shared Online
In what appeared to be an attempt to seek public support and prompt disciplinary action, the cyclists shared the driver&rsquo;s full name, bus registration plate, and employee ID on social media platforms. However, their efforts backfired. Rather than drawing outrage towards the driver, the post unleashed a wave of criticism against the cyclists themselves.
