It is with sad news that the doomed Indonesian submarine has been found and all 53 crew members on board pronounced dead.

The submarine had gone missing last week off the northern coast of Bali said the Indonesian authorities. According to the military, the submarine KRI Nanggala 402 is likely to have split into three. Pieces of debris from the submarine was found on Sunday and they later found the main body which was not far from where it believed to have sunk.
"We've obtained images that have been confirmed to be parts of KRI Nanggala 402. Based on this authentic evidence, we can say that KRI Nanggala 402 has sunk and all the crew members have passed away," said Chief Gen. Hadi Tjahjanto of the Indonesia Military (TNI).
"On behalf of all soldiers and the big family of the TNI, I... express my deepest condolences. We hope we can all continue your exemplary services as the best soldiers of the TNI."
The Indonesian military alongside the International Submarine Escape and Rescue Liaison Office will attempt to salvage the submarine and the remains of the fallen crew members.

Chief of Staff Yudo Margono had said that the multipurpose research vessel, the KRI Rigel, had found images of possible debris from the sunken submarine. They had also used a multibeam echo sounder to locate it deep in the water.
The reason for the accident has not been confirmed as they will need to wait till the wreckage is resurfaced but human error has been dismissed as the submarine may of sank due to natural cause.
The search efforts took longer than expected as the echo sounder multibeam could only go up to 800 meters and it was later taken over by Singapore&rsquo;s MV Swift Rescue which operates remotely underwater. It had later confirmed that the debris found belonged to the submarine.

The navy had also found the submarine escape suits which are normally stored in an emergency box and suggests someone would had attempted to take it out but were unable to wear it.

According to Margono, the KRI Nanggala was split into three parts and it was unlikely that the crew of the KRI Nanggala would have survived.

What was the submarine doing before it went missing?
The submarine and its crew were conducting a torpedo-firing exercise before it vanished on Wednesday 21st April 2021 and it was believed that it had gone beyond their diving limit at 850 meters.
Communications were lost around 4AM and after an hour and 15 minutes, the vessel had not resurfaced.
The submarine has been in service 1981 and had went through a full refit in South Korea in 2012. Although deemed to be in &ldquo;good condition&rdquo; by the Indonesian Navy, some have doubted the statement as they mentioned that the poor maintenance of military equipment may have been a contributing factor to the sinking of the submarine.
Our condolences to the families and may the crew rest in peace. It&rsquo;s a dangerous drop to be operating in the Navy Submarine. In fact, every job has their own risks. We hope the Indonesian government will find out how this happened and hope that it can prevent future submarine incidents.

According to reports from the Civil Defence Force&rsquo;s Hulu Perak operations control centre (PKOD APM), the emergency call from Hospital Gerik was received at approximately 1.10am, shortly after the accident occurred. The bus, which had been chartered privately by the students, was en route from Jerteh, Terengganu, to the UPSI main campus in Tanjong Malim, Perak. It was carrying 48 passengers, primarily students who had gathered in Jerteh following the festive break.
The collision also involved a Perodua Alza MPV, believed to be travelling in the same direction. Both vehicles were headed west when, for reasons still under investigation, the bus overturned and the Alza skidded off the road into a nearby ditch.
Casualties and Injuries: A Sobering Toll

Out of the 48 individuals involved, 13 were pronounced dead at the scene, while two more succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. The severity of the crash has left many others in serious condition. Initial assessments revealed seven people in the red zone (critical condition), 20 in the yellow zone (semi-critical), and 16 in the green zone (minor injuries) at Gerik Hospital.
Two injured female students were among the first to be brought in for emergency care, one reportedly suffering a fractured arm and the other sustaining head injuries. Medical teams acted quickly to stabilise the injured, many of whom were trapped or ejected from the bus during the accident.
Emergency Rescue Efforts Amid Wreckage

Multiple agencies worked together to transport the injured and deceased using Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS), KKM ambulances, and units from the Civil Defence Force. The professionalism and urgency of the rescue teams prevented what could have been an even greater loss of life.
Students Had Privately Chartered the Bus
In the aftermath of the tragedy, Professor Dr Norkhalid Salimin, UPSI&rsquo;s Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs and Alumni, confirmed that the students had arranged for a private charter bus to return to campus after the holiday period. He noted that they had travelled together from Jerteh, having reunited with their families during the Aidiladha celebrations.
&ldquo;The students had taken the initiative to organise their own transport back to campus. It was meant to be a straightforward return from the festive break,&rdquo; he said.
The university has since mobilised its staff to assist the families of victims, while also coordinating with authorities to obtain accurate information and provide necessary support, including counselling and logistical assistance.

PETRONAS To Slash 10% Of Workforce Amid Restructuring And Profit Slump

Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has suffered a legal setback after the High Court in Kuala Lumpur dismissed his bid to seek constitutional immunity from a civil lawsuit filed by his former research assistant. The lawsuit, which accuses Anwar of sexual assault in 2018, is now set to proceed to trial on 16 June.

High Court Judge Roz Mawar Rozain ruled on 4 June that Anwar&rsquo;s application to refer eight constitutional questions to the Federal Court lacked merit. She said the questions failed to meet the required legal threshold under Section 84 of the Courts of Judicature Act 1964, stating they did not involve "genuine constitutional controversy" and were neither necessary nor relevant to the current proceedings.
&ldquo;There is no express constitutional or statutory immunity accorded to a sitting prime minister for private acts committed before assuming office,&rdquo; she said. She also emphasised that constitutional guarantees of equal protection under the law mean equal treatment, not exemption.
The court ordered Anwar to pay RM20,000 in costs to the plaintiff, Muhammad Yusoff Rawther. Anwar&rsquo;s legal team has since indicated plans to appeal the decision and request a stay of the upcoming trial.
The Lawsuit and Allegations

In a statement following the High Court's ruling, Anwar maintained that his application was &ldquo;never about seeking personal immunity or escaping legal scrutiny,&rdquo; but rather about upholding the constitutional integrity of the Prime Minister&rsquo;s office. He argued that strategic litigation of this nature could disrupt governance and affect executive duties.
&ldquo;This matter concerns the integrity of our constitutional system and the need to ensure that high public office is protected from litigation that may be strategically timed, politically motivated, or institutionally disruptive,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;I remain committed to the rule of law and will continue to discharge my responsibilities without distraction or compromise.&rdquo;
Legal Arguments and Constitutional Debate

Other anxieties include fears of getting lost, being unable to communicate during a traffic stop or accident, and unexpected road hazards.
