Are you one to believe in superstition? Well, if you are, then you&rsquo;ll probably want to always be careful of where you do when wondering around town.
We&rsquo;ve heard many stories of places around Kuala Lumpur being haunted but here&rsquo;s something new as someone witnessed it with their own eyes.
TikTok user <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@fiesha_honda">@fiesha_honda</a> had uploaded a video which showed the glass door opening and closing on it&rsquo;s own at the newly-opened LaLaport Bukit Bintang City Centre in KL. The user claims that the mall is &ldquo;haunted&rdquo; because of this. At the time of writing this article, the video had gained 1.3 million views on TikTok.

It didn&rsquo;t take long for netizens to debate if the place is actually haunted. There are some comments who believe that the place is haunted as there is belief of it to be related to mystical and supernatural events. Meanwhile, there are some who don&rsquo;t believe it&rsquo;s haunted and the rest are just praying that anyone who visits the place is safe.
Did you know that Lalaport was built over the site of the former Pudu Jail?

The Pudu Jail was a prison in the heart of Kuala Lumpur which was built back in the British colonial government 1891 and 1895. The jail had housed some pretty famous names such as Botak Chin who was an infamous gangster who had betrayed his own men and was executed on 11 June 1981 for the possession of firearms. Another would be Kevin Barlow and Brian Chambers who were Australians and also Derrick Gregory was a British national were hanged in the prison for possession and trafficking of heroin.
The jail was formally closed in 1996 after 101 years in service and most prisoners had been moved to the Sungai Buloh and Kajang prison. It was continued to be used as a day-holding facility for prisoners till 2009 by the PDRM.
In 2009, the government had decided to demolish the complex and started developing it in phases. Most of the prison was wrecked including the famous mural wall as road extensions were done.

Currently, the only part of the exterior wall that remains of the jail is the main gate which is now incorporated into the fountain park forming part of the Mutsui Lalaport mall.

Actually haunted or just a pure coincidence? 
It&rsquo;s hard to believe if it&rsquo;s haunted but Twitter user @kalossharon revealed that his father was involved in a door installation project in the past and assured that it was not supernatural. According to him, the issue is with the door hinges and installation method and is common for this door in particular.
&ldquo;Things can be explained but we love to believe in superstition&rdquo; he said.

According to him, that there are 3 common reasons on why the door is like that:
1) Slanted area. 2) Air pressure from inside out. 3) Hinges are not balanced/ not tight.
Interestingly enough, after this Twitter thread, others had also asked silly questions on why the other doors did not open. Simply enough, people didn&rsquo;t stop to think if the doors were locked.
Here are how some Malaysians felt about the &ldquo;haunted&rdquo; door:
They don&rsquo;t seem scared at all and instead joke about how the ghost is excited for their new house and that it used to greet people coming in.

One netizen even asked if the ghost has scanned MySejahtera. Meanwhile a netizen who says they are a staff there says that the door is automatic, and it does have issues and told people not to worry.

Saying that the ghost from the prison missed opening and closing the doors and that they are happy that their new home is a mall.

Whether it&rsquo;s haunted or an automatic door, hopefully our Malaysians don&rsquo;t jump to conclusions and tell people to not go to the mall.
For all we know if there is ghost, at least they got a nice mall to themselves now rather than a cold and small prison cell.

A disturbing incident in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, has ignited widespread outrage after a university student was allegedly caught recording upskirt videos of women using a mobile phone hidden in a shopping bag. The dramatic confrontation was captured in a viral video, leading to the discovery of over 500GB of voyeuristic footage and triggering renewed concerns over public safety and predatory behaviour in urban areas.
Suspicious Behaviour Spotted in Crowded Street

The incident unfolded near the popular Lot 10 shopping mall, where a group of Malaysian university students noticed a man behaving oddly as he trailed a woman wearing a skirt. He was holding a paper bag in an unnatural position&mdash;angled just beneath the woman's skirt&mdash;as they crossed the street. Inside the bag, his smartphone was facing upward, allegedly positioned to secretly film beneath her clothing.
Realising something was wrong, the group&mdash;including the woman&rsquo;s friends&mdash;immediately confronted him. One of them grabbed his hand and asked, &ldquo;Bro, what are you recording?&rdquo; as another began recording the confrontation. The man, who was wearing a face mask, attempted to flee but was stopped at a nearby traffic light and later tackled to the ground when he tried to escape again.
Students Take Action Before Police Arrive

As onlookers gathered, the suspect was pinned down and held in a headlock by one of the students to prevent him from fleeing again. A security guard eventually intervened and took control of the scene before the police arrived. While waiting, the group demanded the suspect unlock his phone.
Initially, no incriminating content was visible, prompting concerns that the man may have deleted evidence. However, one of the students realised that some Android devices can switch between multiple user accounts or operating environments. Upon switching systems, they made a chilling discovery.
Staggering Archive of Voyeuristic Material Uncovered

The phone reportedly contained approximately 500GB of illicit upskirt videos and images&mdash;a collection so vast that it shocked even the seasoned among the group. In a follow-up video and accompanying Facebook post, one woman who was at the scene claimed that the phone held thousands of such recordings. Many of the victims appeared to be unaware they were being filmed, and several were reportedly not wearing safety shorts, making the act even more invasive.
Additional material found on the device allegedly included records linked to online gambling platforms, prompting speculation that the suspect may be involved in other illegal activities.
Suspect Believed to Be a Cyberjaya Student
Further investigation by the group revealed that the man is believed to be a student at a university in Cyberjaya. This revelation has sparked concern that such predatory behaviour might be occurring undetected within academic environments.
Fearing that the man could evade serious consequences or return to campus under false pretences, the students decided to publicly share their experience and the video of the confrontation. &ldquo;We don&rsquo;t want this person to tell people he was arrested for gambling and just carry on as if nothing happened,&rdquo; said one of the students involved.
Motivated by Justice, Not Fame
The video quickly went viral, with many praising the students for their courage and initiative. However, the individuals behind the video were quick to clarify their motivations. &ldquo;We&rsquo;re not doing this for attention or praise. We just want to make sure he doesn&rsquo;t get away with it&mdash;and that women are warned,&rdquo; said the victim&rsquo;s friend in a statement.
The students stressed that sharing the video was about raising awareness, not showcasing heroism. They also warned other university students to stay vigilant, as there was evidence suggesting the suspect might not have acted alone.

Students Confront Suspected Voyeur In Bukit Bintang: 500GB Of Upskirt Videos Found

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have come under the spotlight once again following the circulation of a video featuring one of its officers allegedly engaging in inappropriate behaviour. The footage, lasting just over two minutes, shows a lower-ranking officer involved in a lewd conversation with a woman, during which he is heard inviting her either to his house or to a hotel. The video was widely shared on social media, drawing public criticism and raising questions over professional conduct within the force.
According to PDRM, the incident is believed to have taken place in the Ampang Jaya district of Selangor. In response, a disciplinary and criminal investigation has been launched against the officer.
Official Statements and Immediate Response

Integrity Issues Plague PDRM Amid Officer Misconduct Scandal

The recent viral misconduct case is just the tip of the iceberg for the PDRM, as broader concerns about internal discipline and professionalism continue to mount. Between January and May 2025, 492 officers were subjected to disciplinary action, with 59 dismissed and 146 suspended, according to Datuk Seri Azri Ahmad, Director of PDRM&rsquo;s Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS).
The most common offences were integrity-related violations (333 cases), followed by governance issues (45), drug offences (42), criminal acts (38), syariah breaches (19), and corruption (15). The figures were revealed during Azri&rsquo;s visit to the newly officiated Maran District Police Headquarters, which serves over 115,000 residents.
Public complaints about police misconduct also surged, with 2,637 reports filed in just five months&mdash;1,892 formal complaints and 745 public tips. In response, PDRM launched the Aduan JIPS PDRM app, offering a more transparent platform for the public to report wrongdoing.
End of a Career and a Call for Reform
Azri&rsquo;s remarks came as part of his final tour of duty, with his retirement scheduled for 26 June 2025, marking the end of a 37-year career in the police service. His departure comes at a pivotal moment, as PDRM faces mounting pressure to reform and rebuild trust with the public.
While the current case may involve a single officer, it has highlighted systemic concerns around supervision, discipline, and the need for continued vigilance against abuses of power.

In a striking example of how appearances can be deceiving, two luxury car drivers were recently caught by the Selangor Road Transport Department (JPJ) for driving without valid road tax and insurance. Despite being behind the wheel of a BMW X5 and a Ford Mustang, both drivers claimed they were unable to renew their documents due to financial hardship.

According to Selangor JPJ Director Azrin Borhan, the Ford Mustang, driven by a man in his early 30s, was flagged for not having a valid Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM) or insurance. The driver claimed he was unable to renew his road tax due to being blacklisted as a result of multiple outstanding traffic summonses.
The driver of the BMW X5, a man in his 40s, was found to be in even more serious violation &mdash; his vehicle had been driven with an expired road tax for more than a year and without any valid insurance coverage. When asked for an explanation, he too cited financial difficulties as the reason.
Both men stated that although they could afford to purchase luxury cars, they were struggling to maintain legal compliance with basic motoring requirements, such as road tax and insurance.
JPJ: &ldquo;Owning a Luxury Car Does Not Make You Above the Law&rdquo;

In response to the violations, both vehicles were immediately seized and taken to the JPJ Shah Alam branch for further investigation and enforcement action.
Azrin Borhan delivered a strong message to the public:
&ldquo;Driving an expensive vehicle is not a licence to break the law. Regardless of income or status, all road users must follow the same regulations. There will be no exceptions for those who own luxury cars.&rdquo;
He also stressed that stern action would be taken against individuals who are found to be negligent or who intentionally ignore their responsibilities as drivers.
