Commonly, many of us would like to avoid paying taxes if given a choice. However, the act of refraining from paying taxes will lead to major consequences we never thought of. 
Recently, a notable celebrity doctor shared a few videos through his TikTok account <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@say_shazril0">@say_shazril0</a> on his unpleasant experience of dealing with the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN) when he was contacted back in October 2020. He shared the incident he experienced to warn and urge the public to pay their taxes responsibly, especially YouTubers, influencers, TikTokers, and any freelancers who thought they were smart enough to escape from it.

Looking back at that moment, he received a letter from LHDN and was summoned by them to come to their office due to him not paying taxes for the vast and numerous content he posted on social media. 
Previously, he thought it was a scam but when a second letter came to knock at his door, he was like &ldquo;Shit, this was real!&rdquo; 
When he arrived at the LHDN office, piles of documents were presented to him and that led him to feel shocked as to how they were able to trace all the evidence of the social media campaign he did for several brands since 2016. 
As such, you can&rsquo;t avoid your responsibility, right? 
Dr. Shazril looked so "kantoi-ed" when he knew he couldn&rsquo;t hide as a means to protect himself when the truth was revealed in front of his eyes. 
The interrogation went on for hours and he was questioned on how much he charged for each campaign as well as his earnings for both shows named Tanya Doktor and MyDoctors. With that, he disclosed everything truthfully just so it would be easier for both parties. 
According to LHDN, they investigated that Dr. Shazril owned a few assets such as a house, car, and motorcycle, and from there, they realized he earned RM160,000 annually between 2018 and 2019. 
Fortunately, the interrogation was merely a &ldquo;test&rdquo; as LHDN wanted to know if Dr. Shazril was a truthful person.

After a thorough calculation from LHDN, apparently, he only needed to pay a total of RM50,000 to them but still, he was cracking his head as to how he was able to settle his tax liabilities in a month. 
Thankfully, an LHDN officer named Raihan was polite and supportive enough to manage his case. He requested him to search for all his receipts just so he could reduce his tax liabilities. In the end, from RM50,000, he managed to reduce the enormous amount to RM40,000! Moreover, another good news came when he was allowed to pay it on a few installment basis. So to say, his hard work of searching through highs and lows was worthwhile to ease his burden at least.

It can be said that Dr. Shazril truly learned his lesson. Now, he cultivates the habit of keeping all the receipts, arranging and sorting them accordingly for his own track record just so he can prove to LHDN whenever they are in quest of him. 
In one of his videos, he said, &ldquo;Pay your taxes. This is what contributes to the economy. Don&rsquo;t be like the old me, and fulfil your responsibilities.&rdquo;

This is to say, be it young or old, paying taxes is an inevitable process that everyone has to go through and is required to commit to.

Despite his exaggerated reaction in the viral video, KA later admitted that he actually enjoys seeing people attempt his recipes&mdash;even when they go disastrously wrong.
In another TikTok post (@khairulamingfans_), he reflected on the ongoing trend, saying:
"After eight years of making cooking videos, I think this year has been the most entertaining. Watching so many people get into the kitchen and try my recipes&mdash;even if they don&rsquo;t turn out as expected&mdash;is really fun."
He also addressed the common assumption that most people fail to follow his recipes, clarifying that this isn&rsquo;t actually the case.
"Actually, the majority of people get it right! Thousands successfully make the dishes. But the ones that go wrong? Those are the ones that end up going viral because they get the most engagement. People keep asking, 'Why did it burn? Why did it explode? Why did it leak?'"
Every Mistake Is a Learning Process
KA reassured his fans that kitchen mishaps are a natural part of learning how to cook and encouraged them to keep trying.
"These are all great first steps, so keep going! Even if you fail, just post it&mdash;I&rsquo;ll probably repost it too," he said with a laugh.
Despite the countless failed attempts flooding his timeline, KA remained appreciative of his followers for supporting his content and taking the time to try his recipes. He ended with one final piece of advice&mdash;half-joking, half-serious:

Recently, Malaysian street artist Cloakwork recently expressed his disappointment on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DHF3IogycmB/?img_index=1">social media</a> after discovering that his murals on several old bus stops in Kuala Lumpur had been painted over. The fraudster, a live-streamer who had built a strong reputation within the collector community, used his online presence to earn the trust of buyers. He cleverly priced his Royal Molly figures to appear like a great deal&mdash;affordable enough to attract interest but not suspiciously cheap. Exploiting the fear of missing out (FOMO) that drives many collectors, he managed to secure payments from multiple buyers before vanishing into thin air.
One victim, identified as Ms A, was personally approached by the scammer, who knew of her enthusiasm for Royal Molly figures. On 5 February, she placed an order with a promised delivery date of 5 March. However, the excuses soon began rolling in&mdash;first, he blamed shipping delays from China, then tried to upsell her a different colour variation for an extra RM500. By 7 March, he finally admitted he had never placed her order. Despite promising a refund, he disappeared, leaving Ms A with a RM7,488 loss and no collectables to show for it.
A Web of Deception Unravelled

In total, the stolen amount was nearly RM300,000&mdash;enough to purchase a small apartment.
Eventually, the victims managed to track down the scammer&rsquo;s brother. However, his response was nothing short of insulting&mdash;he proposed a repayment plan of RM500 per month, a sum so small it would take decades to fully repay the victims. To make matters worse, he issued a threat: if anyone reported the fraud to the police, all repayments would cease immediately, turning the situation into a financial hostage crisis.
A Shameless Display of Audacity

As of now, only three victims have officially filed police reports, while others have either accepted the slow repayment plan or decided to cut their losses. The scammer, meanwhile, is believed to be overseas, potentially surrounded by a collection of Royal Molly figures bought with stolen funds.
A Costly Lesson for Collectors
This case is a stark reminder of the risks associated with unchecked trust in online purchases, particularly in tight-knit collector communities where passion often overrides caution.

Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng, who has been approached by victims for assistance, has urged more people to come forward and report the fraud. He advised that the scammer should be given one last opportunity to refund the money before the matter is escalated legally.

&ldquo;If you put one dollar into your EPF and let it compound for 20 to 30 years, you could easily see a return of four to five times the original amount,&rdquo; he elaborated.

A common argument against EPF is that Malaysians generally earn lower wages than Singaporeans. However, Loo argued that EPF&rsquo;s robust compounding rate makes up for the income disparity.
&ldquo;Let&rsquo;s assume EPF delivers an average return of 6.5%,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;If you allow it to compound over 35 years, the return is nine times. If you invest SGD$100,000, it could grow into SGD$900,000 by the time you turn 65.&rdquo;
This level of compounding, he stressed, provides Malaysians with an incredible advantage in growing their retirement savings, despite the differences in income levels between the two nations.

Azam underscored the significance of the evidence, confirming that Ismail Sabri is a suspect in the case. "Firstly, he has been required to declare his assets under Section 36 of the MACC Act. Secondly, the money was discovered in connection with him, and we will require his statement to determine the source and intended use of these funds."
