On May 31, the couple, both aged 28, were detained by police at their family home in Puncak Alam. This led to a week-long remand to facilitate further investigations under the stringent provisions of Section 302 of the Penal Code, which deals with murder charges.

Upon entering the court complex, Zaim, dressed in purple detainee attire and handcuffs, became emotional and tearfully declared his innocence, saying, &ldquo;I am being wronged! This is all slander.&rdquo;
His wife, Ismanira, remained silent throughout the proceedings but received support from a group of family members, one of whom urged her "not to be a scapegoat" and "to be strong" during this ordeal.

Outside the court complex, a small group of 20 supporters gathered, holding banners in solidarity with Zayn's parents, Zaim and Isma, seeking justice for both Zayn and his parents.
As the initial remand period expired, the police requested Magistrate Ainaa Muhamad Kamal to extend the couple's detention for an additional six days, which was approved.
"The remand application was made under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code. We objected to the application on the grounds that we believe they should not be detained any longer and should be released," explained their new lawyer, Fahmi Abd Moin.
"However, the magistrate found a basis to extend their remand and granted the application. We have also explained this process to Zayn&rsquo;s parents, and they understood," he added.
Murder Case Still A Mystery

Currently, the investigation has involved the seizure of the couple's cell phones and the recording of statements from two family members and the boy&rsquo;s former babysitter.
On the night of December 6, Zayn&rsquo;s body was found by the public only 200 meters from his home, near a stream. They had joined the search operations following the report of his disappearance. An autopsy revealed that Zayn suffered injuries to his neck and body, confirming he was murdered.
Zayn&rsquo;s case is considered one of the most complex murder cases in the country due to the lack of evidence pointing to any suspect. Some have compared it to the murder of Nurin Jazlin Jazimin in 2007, a case still unsolved with the perpetrator remaining unidentified.

A ferry travelling from Ketapang Port in East Java to Gilimanuk Port in Bali sank late on Wednesday night (2 July 2025), just 25 minutes into its journey across the Bali Strait, one of Indonesia&rsquo;s busiest inter-island routes. He added that the improved weather on Thursday has allowed for a more concentrated water-based search.

This initiative is driven by a desire to ensure that education in Sarawak does not lag behind global technological trends, while also responding directly to the needs and aspirations of teachers on the ground.

He further highlighted AI&rsquo;s growing role in Sarawak&rsquo;s economy, particularly in agriculture, manufacturing, and the social sector, making it imperative that educators are equipped to keep up with changing demands across all industries.

One standout project was a visual aid device for the visually impaired, developed by a team of teachers with no prior coding experience. Using image recognition and motion sensors, they prototyped a tool that could guide visually impaired students through school corridors &mdash; a powerful reminder of how innovation can arise when empathy and technology intersect.

Despite the hardships, Afiq says mental discipline is the key. &ldquo;You are your own boss, but people forget that being a boss is hard. There&rsquo;s no one chasing you to work &mdash; so you have to be consistent and motivated.&rdquo;

While Afiq is proud of his achievements, he is realistic about the nature of platform work. &ldquo;There&rsquo;s no promotion, no HR department planning your career,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s not for everyone. You have to make it work for you.&rdquo;

In response to these challenges, the Ministry of Health has moved forward with legislative reforms designed to bolster Malaysia&rsquo;s specialist workforce and ensure fairer access to advanced medical care.
Effective from 1 July, the Medical (Amendment) Regulations 2025 and the Medical Act (Amendment) 2024 have come into force. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad described the changes as a major step towards creating a more transparent, inclusive, and competency-based system for medical specialists.
Key features of the amendments include:

The reforms aim not only to fill existing gaps in specialist availability but also to provide long-term stability for Malaysia&rsquo;s healthcare system&mdash;by improving training pipelines, retaining local talent, and ensuring more equitable distribution of expertise across the country.
