Malaysia's Home Ministry (KDN) has launched a comprehensive investigation into the operations of Network School, a technology-focused residential community based in Johor's Forest City, following allegations that Israeli nationals may have entered Malaysia using passports issued by other countries.
The probe comes after videos and posts circulated on social media, particularly on Threads, questioning the purpose of the community and alleging that some participants were Israeli citizens despite Malaysia's longstanding ban on Israeli passport holders entering the country.

Authorities have stressed that the investigation is focused on determining whether any immigration laws were breached, rather than making conclusions before the inquiry is completed.
Authorities Investigating Immigration And National Security Concerns

In a statement, the Home Ministry said it is working together with the Immigration Department, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and other relevant agencies to establish the identities and nationalities of individuals linked to Network School.
Investigators will also examine the validity of the travel documents used, the types of immigration passes granted, the purpose of entry into Malaysia, and whether those involved complied with the country's immigration laws and other relevant legislation.
A key issue being examined is whether any individuals entered Malaysia using passports from third countries in order to bypass restrictions on Israeli passport holders.
Malaysia does not have diplomatic relations with Israel, and Israeli passport holders are generally prohibited from entering the country without special approval from the Home Ministry. However, Malaysia does not prohibit individuals with dual citizenship from travelling using a non-Israeli passport, making the investigation crucial in determining whether any laws or immigration conditions were violated.
The ministry emphasised that any misuse of immigration facilities, submission of false information, abuse of immigration passes or offences affecting national security would be dealt with firmly and "without compromise".
It also urged the public to avoid speculation while investigations are ongoing.
Johor Government Calls For Thorough Probe

Earlier, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi called on both federal and state agencies to conduct a full investigation into Network School following growing public concern.
He said the Johor government would not allow the state to become a base for activities, ideologies or movements that conflict with Malaysian laws, national sovereignty or the interests of Johor.
Among the agencies asked to investigate are the Home Ministry, Immigration Department, Royal Malaysia Police, Royal Malaysian Customs Department and other relevant security agencies.
According to Onn Hafiz, authorities have been instructed to verify the identities and nationalities of individuals involved, examine whether second passports were used, determine the purpose of their entry into Malaysia and establish whether their actual activities matched the reasons declared when entering the country.
In addition, the Higher Education Ministry, Digital Ministry and relevant regulatory bodies have been asked to determine the legal status of Network School's operations, including whether its programmes require registration or approval under Malaysian law.
At the state level, agencies including the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) and the Johor Land and Mines Office will also review compliance involving business licences, land use, accommodation, premises and other regulatory requirements.
What Is Network School?

Founded in 2024 by former Coinbase Chief Technology Officer and American entrepreneur Balaji Srinivasan, Network School describes itself as a co-living and co-learning community for entrepreneurs, technology founders, remote workers and content creators.
The project is based on Srinivasan's concept of a "network state" &mdash; a digitally connected community that eventually develops into a physical settlement with its own economic and social ecosystem.
Located in Forest City, the community markets itself as a hub for "techno-optimists" and startup founders, offering accommodation, co-working spaces, fitness facilities, networking opportunities and educational programmes through a monthly membership.
The development has also hosted talks featuring several prominent technology entrepreneurs and investors from around the world.
However, the current investigation centres on immigration compliance and the identities of individuals participating in the programme, rather than the community's concept itself.
Forest City Once Again Under The Spotlight

The latest controversy places Forest City back under public scrutiny.

Its location, directly opposite Singapore and within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, has also attracted international entrepreneurs and businesses in recent years.
Last year, Network School gained further public attention after Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo visited the site and described Malaysia as an increasingly attractive destination for global technology talent. Reports also suggested that Srinivasan had proposed closer collaboration with the Malaysian government, including ideas involving digital visa processing, although no formal policy changes were announced.
Separately, the project also attracted controversy in 2024 after Israeli content creator Nas Daily appeared in promotional material filmed at Network School.
Investigation Remains Ongoing
For now, the Home Ministry has stressed that investigations are still in the early stages and no conclusions have been reached.
Authorities are working with multiple government agencies to determine whether any immigration offences, misuse of travel documents or activities affecting national security have occurred.
The ministry reiterated that the MADANI Government would not tolerate any individual or organisation found to have abused Malaysia's immigration system or engaged in activities that threaten public order, national security or the country's sovereignty.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will investigate allegations that personal information belonging to popular entrepreneur and content creator Khairul Aming was accessed and shared online without authorisation.
The issue gained attention after details believed to be linked to Khairul Aming&rsquo;s telecommunications account appeared on social media, raising concerns over customer data privacy and how confidential information could have been obtained by an unauthorised individual.
Khairul Aming, whose real name is Khairul Amin Kamarulzaman, first highlighted the matter after questioning how another person was able to access and publicly reveal details of his personal phone bill on Threads.

A social media user had claimed to know information regarding the entrepreneur&rsquo;s telecommunications account, including an alleged outstanding bill of RM498 and details relating to additional digital purchases linked to the account. The post also included comments about his account status, which sparked discussions among social media users.
However, Khairul Aming stressed that the amount of the bill was not the main concern. Instead, he questioned how someone outside the company could obtain and disclose his private account information.
&ldquo;What is frightening is how you could know my phone bill details and then post them publicly. This is my personal data,&rdquo; he said in response to the post.
He also explained that he usually makes advance payments for several months, which may have resulted in him not realising that his balance had been used up.
The incident has since raised broader concerns among Malaysians about the security of personal information held by companies and whether customer data can be accessed without proper authorisation.
Fahmi Orders MCMC Probe Into Alleged Data Breach

Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil has instructed MCMC to obtain a full report on the alleged leak, describing the matter as a serious concern.
Speaking after officiating the International Regulatory Conference (IRC) 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Fahmi said the complaint suggested that an individual may have gained access to information they were not authorised to view, including customer details or internal systems belonging to a telecommunications company.
&ldquo;This is quite worrying because the complaint I read on Threads gives the impression that an individual who should not have access to personal information may have obtained access to a telco company&rsquo;s system or inventory,&rdquo; he said.
Fahmi added that he had already met representatives from the telecommunications company involved, who informed him that they were contacting Khairul Aming directly regarding the matter.
He said MCMC would conduct further checks to determine how the alleged breach occurred and whether any offences had been committed.
The minister also urged members of the public who experience similar incidents involving unauthorised disclosure of personal information to submit reports to MCMC.
He said official complaints would allow authorities to collect records and evidence needed for further investigation and enforcement action.
Sharing Personal Data Without Consent May Be An Offence

Affected individuals were also encouraged to lodge both police reports and complaints with MCMC to assist authorities in carrying out investigations.
&ldquo;Reports are important so that we have records, information and evidence to enable follow-up action,&rdquo; Fahmi said.
The reminder comes as concerns continue to grow over personal data protection, especially as more services rely on storing large amounts of customer information.

PlayStation 5 emulation is making surprising progress despite the console still being in the middle of its life cycle, with several community projects now capable of booting commercial PS5 games and, in some cases, even reaching early playable gameplay.
The recent breakthroughs have drawn significant attention following reports that Sony plans to stop producing physical PlayStation game discs from 2028. The move has sparked debate over digital ownership and game preservation, with many players concerned about the long-term accessibility of their purchased games. In response, interest in PS5 emulation has accelerated as developers work to preserve access to console titles.
Why PS5 Emulation Is Progressing Faster

SharpEmu Reaches Key Milestones

Among the most prominent projects is SharpEmu, a Windows-based emulator written in C#.
Rather than fully recreating PS5 hardware, SharpEmu functions as a translation layer, allowing PCs to execute processor instructions directly while converting PlayStation-specific system functions into something Windows can process.
The emulator has already achieved several early milestones. Smaller 2D games such as Dreaming Sarah reportedly run successfully, while major PS5 titles including Demon's Souls, Astro Bot, Silent Hill: The Short Message and Superliminal are now capable of booting to varying stages.
Most still stop at loading or start-up screens, but simply getting modern PS5 exclusives to initialise is considered a significant technical achievement at this stage.
KytyPS5 Continues To Improve

Recent updates have improved graphics rendering, shader translation, memory management and audio support, allowing several games to progress much further than before.
Silent Hill: The Short Message can now reach its menu, while PowerWash Simulator and Pac-Man World are reportedly playable, although performance and stability remain unknown.
One of the biggest milestones is the successful booting of the PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto V. While the game cannot yet be played, users can access its menus and settings, showing that increasingly complex commercial titles are beginning to function within the emulator.
GTA VI Is Still A Long Way Off

Emulation Isn't The Same As Piracy
It's also important to distinguish emulation from piracy.
Creating or using an emulator is generally legal in many countries. However, downloading copyrighted games without owning them or distributing protected PlayStation firmware may infringe copyright laws.
Sony has previously taken legal action against projects that it believes violate its intellectual property, although emulator development itself remains lawful when it avoids using copyrighted code.
Progress Is Accelerating
Although PS5 emulation is still in its early stages, the pace of development has surprised many within the gaming community.
Most commercial games remain unplayable, but projects such as SharpEmu, KytyPS5 and research initiative RPCSX are steadily pushing the technology forward.

OpenAI has officially stepped into the consumer hardware market, but its debut product isn't the long-rumoured AI companion device many were anticipating. Instead, the company has unveiled the Codex Micro, a compact mechanical macropad designed specifically for programmers using its AI coding assistant, Codex.
Developed in collaboration with keyboard maker Work Louder, the device is OpenAI's first branded piece of consumer hardware. While it won't replace your everyday keyboard, it acts as a dedicated controller that gives developers quicker access to AI-powered coding tools and workflows.
OpenAI's First Hardware Is Built For AI Coding

Rather than creating an all-purpose AI gadget, OpenAI has focused on a niche audience: software developers.
The Codex Micro is a programmable 13-key mechanical macropad featuring a rotary dial, an analogue joystick and RGB lighting. It is designed to streamline interactions with Codex, OpenAI's AI coding assistant, allowing users to perform common tasks with dedicated physical controls instead of navigating menus or typing repeated prompts.
Among its default shortcuts are actions such as reviewing pull requests, debugging code, accepting or rejecting AI-generated suggestions and managing multiple coding sessions simultaneously.
Like most programmable macro keyboards, users can also remap every key to suit their own workflow, making the device useful beyond Codex if desired.
Physical Controls Designed Around AI Workflows

One of the Codex Micro's standout features is its six illuminated "Agent Keys", which provide live visual updates on AI coding agents.
Instead of constantly checking the desktop app, users can tell what their AI is doing simply by glancing at the keypad. Different colours indicate different statuses, including:

<li>Blue: Processing or "thinking"</li>
<li>Green: Task completed</li>
<li>Amber: Waiting for user input</li>
<li>Red: Error encountered</li>

Tapping an Agent Key immediately switches to the corresponding Codex session, while double-tapping brings it into focus.
The rotary dial adjusts Codex's reasoning level, allowing users to choose how much computing power and time the AI spends solving a task. Meanwhile, the joystick can be assigned to navigate coding workflows or other programmable functions.
OpenAI is also including 32 interchangeable keycaps, allowing users to customise shortcuts with different icons and labels.
Compatible With Windows And Mac

The Codex Micro connects via either Bluetooth or USB-C and supports both Windows and macOS.

Although the device is clearly designed around Codex, Work Louder's software allows users to create several additional programmable layers, meaning it can double as a productivity controller for other applications.
It Costs Around RM1,200 To Import Into Malaysia

The Codex Micro is priced at US$230 (around RM950) and is currently available for pre-order through OpenAI's online Supply Co. store.
However, Malaysian buyers should expect to pay considerably more.
Shipping alone adds roughly RM300, pushing the total cost to over RM1,200 before any import duties or taxes are applied. At the time of writing, there is no indication that the keypad will be officially distributed in Malaysia.
Given the price, many online users have questioned whether a dedicated AI keypad offers enough value, especially when programmable macro pads and gaming peripherals capable of similar shortcuts are already available at lower prices.
Not The Jony Ive Device Everyone Has Been Waiting For
The launch has also surprised many because it is not the mysterious AI hardware OpenAI has been developing with former Apple design chief Jony Ive.
That separate project remains under development and is expected to be a portable, screenless AI companion designed to integrate deeply with ChatGPT. Reports suggest it could feature microphones, cameras and sensors to better understand a user's surroundings, although OpenAI has yet to officially reveal the final design.
As a result, the Codex Micro appears to be more of a limited-edition collaboration than the company's flagship hardware vision.
A Small First Step Into Consumer Hardware
OpenAI has described the Codex Micro as a limited-run collaboration with Work Louder, suggesting it is not intended to become a mass-market product.
Instead, it serves as an early glimpse into the company's broader hardware ambitions while offering a specialised accessory for developers already relying heavily on AI-assisted coding.
Whether the Codex Micro justifies its premium price will ultimately depend on how much users value having dedicated physical controls for Codex. For casual users, it may feel unnecessary, but for developers juggling multiple AI coding agents throughout the day, it could become a useful desktop companion.
