Malaysian entrepreneur and content creator Khairul Aming has officially introduced Sambal Nyet Bilis, the fourth product under his RASAPOP brand and his first new sambal in six years. Set to launch this Friday, the highly anticipated product promises a bolder flavour profile while continuing the entrepreneur's commitment to supporting local farmers, fishermen and manufacturers.
The launch comes despite recent issues surrounding the leak of his personal information, with Khairul choosing to remain focused on expanding his business and introducing what he describes as his biggest product release to date.

Since launching the original Sambal Nyet Berapi in 2021, Khairul Aming has built one of Malaysia's most successful local food brands. The range later expanded with Dendeng Nyet Berapi and Rendang Nyet Berapi, but fans have been waiting six years for an entirely new sambal.
Now, that wait is over.
According to Khairul, Sambal Nyet Bilis offers a completely different flavour from its predecessor, featuring a richer recipe with more ingredients and a spicier, more aromatic taste.
Unlike the original Sambal Nyet Berapi, which relies heavily on red chillies, the new recipe uses 75% green chillies and 25% red chillies, creating a gentler yet more fragrant heat while maintaining its signature kick.
Fresh anchovies are the star ingredient, complemented by tomatoes, kaffir lime leaves and belacan to produce a sambal inspired by traditional Malaysian flavours.
Personally Sourcing Ingredients Across Malaysia

One of the highlights of the launch was Khairul Aming documenting his journey across Malaysia to source the best local ingredients personally.
Rather than simply purchasing raw materials, he travelled to Setiu, Terengganu, where he joined local fishermen out at sea to witness first-hand the demanding process of catching fresh anchovies. He explained that the experience gave him a greater appreciation for the hard work involved in producing what many Malaysians often consider an everyday ingredient.
He also visited chilli farms in Banting, Selangor, learning directly from local farmers about cultivating high-quality chillies before selecting those best suited for the new sambal recipe.
The approach reflects Khairul's continued emphasis on working closely with Malaysian suppliers while highlighting the people behind the country's food industry.
100% Malaysian From Farm To Factory

Khairul also revealed that every stage of production remains entirely local.
After sourcing ingredients from around the country, Sambal Nyet Bilis is produced at RASAPOP's manufacturing facilities in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, where all processes&mdash;including quality control, cooking, bottling, packaging and distribution&mdash;take place under one roof.
The company now operates three factories capable of producing more than 12,000 bottles daily, while providing employment for around 100 local workers.
Describing the product, Khairul said it is:
"Inspired by local flavours, made using local ingredients, produced by local people for the world to enjoy."
Biggest Product Launch Yet

After more than two decades, Malaysia is getting a new generation of its national identity card.
The National Registration Department (JPN) has unveiled the MyKad Generasi Baharu, featuring a redesigned appearance, upgraded chip technology and 53 security features, up from 23 on the existing version.
The new MyKad officially begins its phased rollout on 17 September 2026, but Malaysians do not need to rush to replace their existing cards.
Here&rsquo;s everything you need to know about the new MyKad, including its new features, Touch &rsquo;n Go changes, application process and whether your current card is still valid.
What&rsquo;s new about the MyKad design?

The new MyKad retains its familiar blue colour scheme but comes with a noticeably different layout.
The Malaysian flag is now positioned at the upper left, while the cardholder&rsquo;s main photograph has also been moved to the left. A smaller secondary portrait, known as a Ghost Image, is included as an additional security feature.
The physical chip has been moved to the back of the card, which also features a QR code intended for verification and enforcement purposes.
JPN says the redesigned card is made from high-durability polycarbonate, designed to better withstand bending, cracking and everyday wear.
New MyKad has 53 security features

One of the biggest upgrades is the increase in security features from 23 to 53.
These include a Dynamic Security Hologram, ultraviolet (UV) security elements, microtext, Guilloche patterns, laser engraving, rainbow printing and a transparent window.
Personal details and the cardholder&rsquo;s photograph are laser-engraved into the card&rsquo;s core layers. This makes it considerably more difficult to alter or remove the information without damaging the card.
The smaller Ghost Image provides another layer of protection against attempts to manipulate or replace the cardholder&rsquo;s photograph.
The new MyKad also uses intricate Guilloche patterns and UV elements that can help with authentication and make counterfeiting more difficult.
New MyKad supports NFC, but not Touch &rsquo;n Go

The upgraded MyKad comes with a dual-interface chip, allowing it to work with both conventional contact-based readers and contactless NFC technology.
However, the introduction of contactless technology does not mean the new MyKad can continue to function as a Touch &rsquo;n Go card. JPN has confirmed that Touch &rsquo;n Go functionality has been removed from the new MyKad.
Those who use Touch &rsquo;n Go for tolls, parking, public transport or other supported services will need to use a separate Touch &rsquo;n Go card or Touch &rsquo;n Go eWallet instead.
Existing MyKad holders should also note that Touch &rsquo;n Go functionality on older cards has its own validity period.
Do Malaysians need to replace their current MyKad?

Short answer: no.
JPN and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail have advised Malaysians not to rush to JPN offices when the new MyKad becomes available.
Existing MyKad cards will remain valid and can continue to be used for daily transactions as long as they are in good condition and functioning normally.
The new version will instead be introduced gradually as Malaysians apply for new cards or need to replace their existing ones.
However, holders of older identification cards, including Kad Pengenalan Plastik (KPP), Kad Pengenalan Bermutu Tinggi (KPT) and MyKad without a Ghost Image, will need to switch to the new generation MyKad.
The phased rollout is also intended to prevent congestion at JPN counters. There are currently around 24 million MyKad cards in circulation, while JPN processes roughly 180,000 to 200,000 applications and replacements each month.
Where can you get the new MyKad?

From 17 September, 40 selected JPN branches and UTC locations equipped with printing facilities will be able to produce the new MyKad on the same day.
These include locations in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Selangor, Penang, Perak, Kedah, Perlis, Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.
Among the locations are JPN Petaling Jaya, JPN Putrajaya, JPN Kuala Lumpur, UTC Selangor, UTC Kuala Lumpur, JPN Johor, JPN Penang, JPN Sabah and JPN Sarawak.
For branches without on-site printing facilities, applications can still be made, but processing and collection will take around five working days.
Will your MyKad number or SARA balance change?

No. Getting the new MyKad will not change your existing 12-digit identification number. Your personal information will continue to be based on JPN&rsquo;s official records.
For Malaysians receiving Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) or other government assistance linked to their MyKad, replacing the physical card will also not erase existing balances or affect eligibility. The relevant information is maintained in the respective government systems, with the MyKad used to verify the recipient&rsquo;s identity.
JPN has also said the new MyKad will continue to support government and other services that require MyKad verification, including transactions involving banks and government programmes.
How much does the new MyKad cost?
Replacing your existing MyKad is not necessarily free.
The applicable fee depends on the type of application and JPN&rsquo;s current rates. Malaysians should therefore not assume they can exchange a perfectly functioning MyKad for the new version at no cost.
JPN has also encouraged those who need to replace their MyKad to make an appointment beforehand where applicable.
For now, if your current MyKad is still working properly, there is no need to rush to replace it. The MyKad Generasi Baharu will gradually become the standard version as new cards are issued and older cards are eventually phased out.

A final-year engineering project from Monash University Malaysia has turned into an award-winning invention after 24-year-old Hayley Nea Iaduray was named Malaysia&rsquo;s National Winner of the James Dyson Award 2026.
Her invention, ZeMor, is a tuneable, battery-free wearable designed to help reduce hand tremors associated with Parkinson&rsquo;s disease. What makes it particularly interesting is where the idea came from: a system commonly used to stabilise some of the world&rsquo;s tallest buildings has been miniaturised into a wearable device for the human hand.
As Malaysia&rsquo;s national winner, Iaduray will receive RM27,160 from the James Dyson Foundation and advance to the international stage of the competition. The James Dyson Award is an international engineering and design competition that challenges students and recent graduates to create solutions to real-world problems.
From Final Year Project To Award-Winning Invention

ZeMor, short for &ldquo;Zero Tremor&rdquo;, was initially developed as Iaduray&rsquo;s Final Year Project.
The Subang Jaya native said her interest in engineering began from a young age, including spending time playing with LEGO during secondary school. Her approach to ZeMor was also influenced by an online video showing someone building a wheelchair for a paralysed pet, which encouraged her to look at how relatively simple engineering could be used to solve practical problems.
Rather than relying heavily on electronics and sensors, Iaduray wanted to explore a more straightforward physical solution.
That led her to one of the most interesting aspects of ZeMor: its use of a Tuned Mass Damper, or TMD.
A Skyscraper Technology Shrunk Down For Parkinson&rsquo;s Care

Tuned Mass Dampers are large mechanical systems used in structures to reduce movement caused by forces such as strong winds and earthquakes. One famous example can be found in Taipei 101, where a massive tuned mass damper helps stabilise the skyscraper.
ZeMor applies the same basic engineering principle on a much smaller scale.
When a hand tremor occurs, an internal weighted mechanism moves in response, helping to absorb and dissipate kinetic energy. Because the system relies on mechanical movement rather than electronics, ZeMor does not require batteries or electrical power.
Another key feature is its ability to be adjusted.
Unlike passive tremor devices that use a fixed mass, ZeMor can be tuned to different tremor frequencies by adding or removing weights. The prototype uses relatively accessible components including slotted weights, steel ball bearings, spring-based dampeners and a 3D-printed housing.
Iaduray spent around a year developing and refining multiple prototypes, testing the concept with a custom-built rig designed to simulate Parkinsonian tremors.
Why ZeMor Could Matter For Parkinson&rsquo;s Patients

Parkinson&rsquo;s disease is a progressive neurological condition that can significantly affect a person&rsquo;s ability to carry out everyday activities.
Hand tremors are among its most recognisable symptoms and can make tasks such as eating, writing, dressing and holding objects increasingly difficult.
The World Health Organization has identified Parkinson&rsquo;s as one of the world&rsquo;s fastest-growing neurological disorders, while research suggests the global number of people living with the condition could reach 25.2 million by 2050. In Malaysia, an estimated 20,000 people are living with Parkinson&rsquo;s, with prevalence expected to rise substantially as the population ages.
Existing treatments can include medication, surgery such as deep brain stimulation and rehabilitation therapies. However, accessibility, cost and long-term sustainability can remain challenges for some patients.
That is where Iaduray hopes a simpler, battery-free approach like ZeMor could eventually make a difference.
&ldquo;What excites me most is the possibility that a relatively simple piece of engineering could help people regain confidence in everyday tasks that many of us take for granted,&rdquo; she said.
What&rsquo;s Next For ZeMor?
Winning the Malaysia National Winner title is only the beginning for Iaduray.
Her next goal is to improve ZeMor from its current single-axis prototype into a multi-directional system, allowing it to respond to tremors coming from different angles and potentially provide greater stability.
She also plans to work with medical professionals and research partners to evaluate the device with people living with Parkinson&rsquo;s disease.
James Dyson Award Malaysia judge and Dyson Head of Design Engineering Pae Yusof praised ZeMor for applying a familiar engineering principle to a very different real-world challenge, while highlighting the rigour, testing and persistence involved in developing the prototype.
Two Other Malaysian Inventions Also Advance

ZeMor was not the only Malaysian invention to stand out this year.
Two projects were named national runners-up and will also advance to the next stage.
S.L.I.C. (Solar Liquid Integration for Communities), developed by a team from the University of Nottingham Malaysia, is a portable solar-powered water purification system designed for communities with limited access to clean water and electricity. The suitcase-sized system combines filtration, UV sterilisation, water heating and cooling, and real-time water-quality monitoring.
The second runner-up, Pillay, was developed by students from Asia Pacific University. Designed in the shape of a friendly penguin, the contactless health-screening device uses optical, thermal and acoustic sensing to measure children's heart rate, breathing, fever and cough patterns without requiring physical contact.
What Happens Next?
ZeMor, S.L.I.C. and Pillay will now advance to the international stage of the James Dyson Award 2026, where they will compete alongside national winners from other countries and regions.
The international Top 20 shortlist will be announced on 14 October, before the international winners are selected by Sir James Dyson and announced on 4 November 2026. The international winner and sustainability winner each have the opportunity to receive RM162,999 under the Malaysian award listing.
For Iaduray, however, the biggest achievement may already be seeing a university project evolve into something with the potential to address a genuine everyday problem.
From a Final Year Project to a national engineering award, ZeMor shows how a simple idea &mdash; inspired by the mechanics of a skyscraper &mdash; can be reimagined into something much smaller, more accessible and potentially meaningful for people living with Parkinson&rsquo;s.

Macklemore has been removed from the remaining US dates of Ed Sheeran&rsquo;s Loop Tour after the rapper made pro-Palestinian remarks during performances at New Jersey&rsquo;s MetLife Stadium, reigniting a wider debate over artists using major concert platforms to speak about political and humanitarian issues.

The Israeli American Council called for Macklemore to be removed from the tour, while singer Pink also commented on the controversy, saying she did not object to the words &ldquo;Free Palestine&rdquo; themselves but expressed concern about the impact the comments had on members of the Jewish community.
Macklemore subsequently reiterated his position during another performance at MetLife Stadium on 5 September, saying that criticism of Israel and opposition to what he described as apartheid and genocide should not be interpreted as criticism of Jewish people.
Macklemore Has Been A Longtime Supporter Of Palestine

Macklemore&rsquo;s comments did not come out of nowhere. The rapper has been an outspoken supporter of Palestinian rights for several years and has repeatedly used his music and public appearances to address the conflict.
One of his most prominent examples is &ldquo;Hind&rsquo;s Hall&rdquo;, which was released in 2024 following pro-Palestinian student protests at Columbia University.

Since then, supporting Palestine has become a recurring part of Macklemore&rsquo;s public activism, making his appearance on Sheeran&rsquo;s largely mainstream and apolitical tour an especially notable platform for those views.
Tour Promoter Confirms Macklemore&rsquo;s Removal

Messina Touring Group, the promoter for the US leg of Sheeran&rsquo;s tour, confirmed that Macklemore would no longer perform at the remaining shows.
The promoter said it had been informed by venues that they would not allow concerts to take place with Macklemore on the line-up. It added that keeping him on the tour could have resulted in cancellations affecting hundreds of thousands of fans.
Following discussions with stakeholders, the decision was made to remove Macklemore from the remaining support dates.
Macklemore had been scheduled to support Sheeran at eight of the tour's remaining US shows, including dates in Philadelphia, the Boston area, Atlanta, Charlotte, Indianapolis, Dallas and Tampa.

Following the announcement, Macklemore published a lengthy statement on Instagram explaining his side of the story.
He said Sheeran, whom he described as a close friend of 13 years, told him that Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots and the organisation behind Gillette Stadium, had said Macklemore would not be allowed to perform at the Massachusetts venue.
Macklemore also claimed Kraft had rallied other stadium owners and that Sheeran faced an ultimatum: keep Macklemore on the tour and risk losing access to several venues.
These claims were not presented by the tour promoter as the sole reason for the decision. The promoter instead confirmed that several venues had raised objections to Macklemore remaining on the line-up.
Kraft later defended the decision, saying Macklemore's recent remarks and what he described as a broader history of rhetoric and imagery had been deeply hurtful to the Jewish community. He also said that he supported peace and an end to suffering for Palestinians and Israelis, while arguing that criticism should not ignore Hamas and the suffering of Jewish people.

Malcolm Todd To Make Kuala Lumpur Debut With ‘Do That Again’ Tour This December

The Bandar Utama school stabbing case has reached a major legal turning point, but for the family of 16-year-old Yap Shing Xuen, the pain is far from over.
On 14 October 2025, Yap was fatally stabbed inside the girls&rsquo; toilet of SMK Bandar Utama Damansara (4) in Petaling Jaya during school hours. The accused, who was 14 at the time, was later charged with murder.
Nearly a year after the incident, the Shah Alam High Court has now acquitted the teenager of the murder charge after finding that he was of unsound mind when the offence was committed.
However, the acquittal does not mean he has simply walked free. The court has ordered the now-15-year-old to be detained at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta in Perak for psychiatric treatment at the pleasure of the Sultan of Selangor.
Teen Acquitted After Insanity Defence Accepted

Justice Adlin Abdul Majid ruled that the defence had successfully established the requirements under Section 84 of the Penal Code, which provides for an insanity defence when a person is unable to understand the nature of their actions or that what they were doing was wrong or contrary to law.
Defence lawyer Kitson Foong said the court accepted that the teenager was not of sound mind at the time of the incident and that the prosecution had failed to rebut the psychiatric evidence presented by the defence.
A forensic psychiatrist from Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Dr Ian Lloyd Anthony, testified regarding the teenager&rsquo;s mental condition. Reports said the psychiatric evidence established that he was suffering from schizophrenia at the time of the incident.
The court therefore recorded an acquittal on the grounds of insanity rather than a criminal conviction.
Acquittal Does Not Mean He Is Being Released

Despite the verdict, the teenager was not allowed to simply return home.
The Shah Alam High Court ordered him to remain at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta for psychiatric treatment for a period to be determined under the authority of the Sultan of Selangor. His treatment will include psychiatric care and supervision, with his eventual release depending on assessments of his condition and whether he is considered fit to return to society.
The case was conducted in camera, meaning members of the public and media were not allowed to attend the proceedings, because the accused is a minor. His identity is also protected under Malaysian law.
The distinction between being acquitted and being released is therefore important. The court found that the teenager could not be held criminally responsible for the act because of his mental state at the time, but he remains under psychiatric detention and supervision.
What Happened At The School?

The incident took place on the morning of 14 October 2025, when Yap was fatally attacked inside the girls&rsquo; toilet at her secondary school in Bandar Utama.
At the time, the accused was 14 while Yap was 16.
The case sparked widespread public attention and grief across Malaysia, while also raising concerns about school safety, adolescent mental health and the influence of online content and social media on young people.
The trial eventually began in August 2026, with proceedings kept private because the accused was a minor. The prosecution called 11 witnesses, while the defence presented two witnesses, including the teenager and the forensic psychiatrist.
Yap&rsquo;s Mother Vows To Continue Seeking Justice

Following the verdict, Yap&rsquo;s mother, Wong Lee Ping, expressed her heartbreak and said she would continue seeking justice for her daughter.
In a statement shared after the decision, Wong remembered Yap as a disciplined, hardworking and caring teenager who still had much of her life ahead of her. She recalled how her daughter would save her pocket money and Chinese New Year ang pow money to buy birthday and Mother&rsquo;s Day gifts, as well as occasionally surprise her mother with cakes.
For Wong, it is these ordinary moments that have become particularly painful after her daughter&rsquo;s death. She said Yap still had many dreams, places she wanted to visit and a future she never had the chance to experience.
Wong has since made clear that the court&rsquo;s verdict has not ended her efforts to seek justice for her daughter.
A Difficult Balance Between Justice And Mental Health

The verdict highlights the complicated intersection between criminal justice, mental health and youth protection.
The court&rsquo;s decision does not establish that the stabbing did not happen. Rather, the central legal question was whether the teenager could be held criminally responsible for his actions given his mental state when the incident occurred.
By accepting the insanity defence, the court concluded that the legal requirements for criminal responsibility were not met. At the same time, the order for psychiatric detention recognises that treatment and public safety remain important considerations.
The case has also renewed questions about how Malaysia identifies and supports young people experiencing serious mental health problems before their conditions reach crisis point.
For Yap&rsquo;s family, however, those broader questions do not erase their loss. A daughter, sister and student is gone, and the future she once had is no longer possible.
As the teenager begins psychiatric treatment under court-ordered detention, Yap&rsquo;s family is left to continue living with the consequences of what happened &mdash; and her mother has made clear that she will continue seeking answers and justice for her daughter.

Limited-edition collectibles, including exclusive stickers, floral hand towels, blind boxes featuring Lee Minho keychains and Roma shopping bags, are available throughout the nationwide campaign.
A special campaign event held on 4 July also brought together members of the media, influencers, content creators and Lee Minho fan communities, where guests explored Roma's heritage and took part in a "See, Smell, Crunch &amp; Savour" tasting experience showcasing the biscuit's signature flavour and texture.
Through the campaign, Roma hopes to celebrate not only one of its most iconic products, but also the simple joy of bringing Malaysians together over a familiar family favourite.
