Have you ever wondered how murtabak fused with apam balik will taste? Well, this local shop in Indonesia fused both the common pastry-based street snack, which is known as Martabak.
Murtabak is famed for its savoury fillings, while apam balik, is a sweeter snack.
Martabak, the nation's king of street food and an incredibly popular snack in Indonesia can be salty or sweet, thin or thick.
Tetangga Kita was founded by Indonesian Rizky Sati and Malaysian Amirah Che Azizuddin with the goal of introducing Malaysians to a taste of Indonesia.

<h2>How Did Tetangga Kita Start?</h2>
The two actually met at university, and Amirah is Rizky's sister's close friend.
Prior to launching Tetangga Kita in 2017, Rizky worked as a consultant/trainer for a coffee company, assisting caf&eacute;s with operations and menu planning.
Amirah, on the other hand, worked in advertising and public relations before joining her family's firm, which is involved in automotive, education, and logistics.
After noticing how difficult it was to obtain a real Indonesian martabak in KL, the couple decided to collaborate.

"Because Malaysia has its own version of martabak, we've always known that the tastebuds of the two neighbouring countries are similar, and we wanted to play a small role in enhancing this synergy," they explained.
Tetangga Kita established their first store in August 2018 in Paradigm Mall, Petaling Jaya, less than a year later.
<h2>Menu In Tetangga Kita</h2>
The biggest distinction between the two is in flavour, as apam balik usually only contains a filling of sweet corn and peanuts, but martabak has a larger variety of fillings.
Tetangga Kita's martabak manis is also available in two varieties: the traditional thick, doughier version and the more modern, thin variant, which is crispier and more suited to clients looking for a lighter snack.

Their thick martabak manis is available in a variety of flavours, including kaya butter, green tea red bean, cheese KitKat green tea, and many more. The prices range from RM16 to RM28.
Their thin martabak manis come in similar tastes and range in price from RM10 to RM18. Meanwhile, their savoury egg martabak is available in a variety of varieties, including chicken, beef, tuna, and Samyang noodles, to mention a few. They range in price from RM15 to RM27.

<h2>Taking The Snack Across The Country</h2>
The Tetangga Kita team has grown to nine individuals in order to operate two physical stores (one in Paradigm Mall and one in Hartamas Shopping Centre), as well as delivery via Oddle, Grab Food, and FoodPanda.
Rizky is currently in charge of on-the-ground operations and works full-time on Tetangga Kita, while Amirah is in charge of back-end operations and juggles it with her family's business.
According to the couple, the majority of their existing consumers are local and Malay, but they also have a significant number of international customers, with a huge sector consisting of Indonesians living in KL.
"We intend to open a third location before moving on to franchising in order to expand the brand to a larger market segment," they stated.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 20th edition of the Tidal Bore Festival in Simanggang on the 1st of October, Sunday, he revealed confidently that he foresees the future economic condition will be much stronger, and by that time, it will be a suitable year to conduct it.

According to him, the yearly projection of Sarawak&rsquo;s income has rocketed since 2020. Moreover, Sarawak had a recorded revenue of RM12 billion last year and he believes this year will be more fruitful than the previous. 
He also stated that there was a fund known as the &lsquo;Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund.&rsquo; To date, the fund is sufficient to offer free tertiary education, and the remaining balance will go to young Sarawakians besides boosting the state&rsquo;s economy as well as enhancing the infrastructure development throughout the state.&nbsp;

Previously, it was reported that Sarawak planned a sovereign wealth fund with RM8 million as the starting amount to build up the state&rsquo;s financial sustainability. As such, it intends to begin the fund by the year 2024. 
Sarawak is said to have a promising future and he encouraged the people to have the &lsquo;muhibah&rsquo; spirit with the aim of keeping unity alive besides working together as a means to elevate the state to greater heights. 
He associated his impactful saying with the regatta boat race at Pesta Benak which emphasized that the paddlers row together in one direction when all of them have a common goal of winning the race.

Recently, a couple embarked on a trip to Genting Highlands, a popular destination known for its refreshing highland climate and respite from the city's heat. However, not all trips unfold seamlessly. During their journey back from their hillside outing, the couple suddenly realized that their wallet was missing.
The original poster (OP) recounted that as they headed back to Raub, the realization of their missing wallet sank in, and they were close to giving up hope of retrieving it. However, thanks to his wife's quick thinking, she suggested contacting the Marrybrown restaurant where they had dined to inquire about their lost wallet.
Spoke To The Employee And Had A Sigh Of Relief

After successfully locating the outlet's contact number online, the gentleman initiated a conversation with an employee named Kogi (although the spelling was uncertain). To their immense relief, Kogi confirmed that the restaurant had indeed discovered a wallet beneath one of the tables, perfectly matching the description provided by the wife.
Upon further inspection, it became evident that the wallet did not contain any form of identification. Instead, it held a sum of cash. The wife clarified that the money in the wallet was reserved exclusively for covering their family's monthly grocery expenses. They expressed profound gratitude to the Marrybrown staff at Genting Sky Avenue for their responsible handling and safekeeping of the wallet.
Staff Goes The Extra Mile For The Couple
Originally, the plan was to mail the wallet back to its owners, but there was a concern about the inherent risk of it being potentially lost in transit, given the tendency of items to go astray during such processes. Recognizing this potential issue, Kogi proposed an alternative solution: transferring the money via bank transaction. Shortly thereafter, she provided reassurance by sending a photograph of the bank transfer receipt.

Commendable Act Of Honesty: Marrybrown Staff Safely Return Cash From Customers Lost Wallet

Char kuey teow is indeed one of the Asian cuisines favoured by many, whether Singaporeans or Malaysians. But when we order a plate of this dish, not all of us would like to include bean sprouts because, for some of us, it is not to our liking.

Recently, a Singaporean diner named Steven Wong was shocked by the additional charge of 50 cents when he requested &ldquo;no bean sprouts.&rdquo; He told the puzzled incident to <a href="https://www.asiaone.com/singapore/might-well-pick-them-out-myself-diner-baffled-bukit-panjang-hawkers-50-cent-charge-remove">Asia One</a> on September 26, Tuesday when he was aware of a sign in Mandarin at a stall named &lsquo;Wu Fu coffee shop&rsquo; located in Fajar Shopping Centre whereby additional ingredients like seafood, egg, and beansprouts would be for S$2 (~RM 6.88), S$1 (~RM 3.44), and S$0.50 (~RM 1.72).

However amusing it was, the confusing part is that you are still being charged an extra 50 cents (~RM 1.72) for the removal of bean sprouts, but why? Logically, when an ingredient is removed, there shouldn&rsquo;t be an extra charge. But in this case, the 50-year-old female owner explained with her justifications that they only have 3 woks at their stall, and normally, they cook about 4 to 5 portions at once. So, when a customer&rsquo;s order is without beansprouts, they ought to make a new batch for them. With that, it consumes a lot of their time as well as the energy spent.

Therefore, this clearly indicates that preparing bean sprouts truly eats up a lot of time when there are customers who demand to not have bean sprouts for their char kway teow. 
Besides selling fried char kway teow, the owner, Madam Goh, had 20 years of experience in cooking carrot cake, oyster omelettes, and fried bee hoon. 
Her stall has been operating in Fajar Shopping Centre for two months and she shared her experience that she did encounter a customer who ordered three packets of it &ndash; the first was pure noodles, the second was with pure kway teow, followed by the third with pure rice noodles. As such, the customers behind would need to line up in a long queue while awaiting their dish to be readily served.

Despite the extra charge seeming reasonable from the owner&rsquo;s point of view, nevertheless, there are Singaporean customers like Steven who found it ridiculous that he felt it was not worth paying the extra price. He furthered on by saying that he would rather pick out the bean sprouts by himself than have his 50-cent pocket money gone.

Another customer named Tan agreed that the price should remain the same when a customer requests to exclude bean sprouts. However, Tan in an understanding manner explained that the reason behind the surcharge is due to them cooking it in bulk and when a customer wants to remove bean sprouts, they will be required to cook it separately at different times. 
Regardless, Goh mentioned that the list of additional charges has been listed ever since the stall opened. So, it is up to the customers&rsquo; preferences on how they would like their money to be spent, and blaming the owner is like pointing fingers at others in regard to their own displeasure. She added that displaying the price list is a way of making things easier for them as well as for customers.

Following an internal inquiry and a review of CCTV footage, it was revealed that the customer initially received an insufficient amount of chilli sauce but was promptly provided with extra packets upon request.
However, the situation took a turn when the customer, despite being informed that the additional chilli sauce was complimentary, became verbally aggressive toward the staff. He insisted on paying for an extra 10 packets of chilli sauce. Subsequently, the incident was reported to the police as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of their employees. McDonald's emphasized that the welfare and well-being of their crew members remain their top priority.

When contemplating our meal options, chicken rice invariably crosses our thoughts, whether it's for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
A simple and easily prepared meal that can fill our stomach with delicious bites. Yet a decent meal with a bowl of rice and a plate of chicken can be hauntingly hefty if you unknowingly venture to a Michelin restaurant!
When Chicken Rice Robs Your Money
Some customers are willing to shell out for an expensive meal, while others are not. A recent diner named Edwin Lu, who indulged in a delectable chicken rice feast at Wong Mei Kee restaurant, was left utterly flabbergasted and bemused when he received a bill exceeding RM80 for the entire meal!

He felt that it wasn&rsquo;t worth the monetary value. He ordered two sets of roasted pork belly (Siew Yok) and roasted chicken rice coupled with two herbal teas amounting to RM81.60 in total inclusive of 6% service tax. 
However flabbergasted Edwin felt, still there was a menu showing the variety of food with its quoted prices. This is to say he had the opportunity to look at it before ordering but why the surprise? 
A Michelin Restaurant
Edwin may not have been aware that the restaurant holds a Michelin star. In fact, this restaurant often referred to colloquially as the "Datuk roast pork" eatery, is owned by an individual who has been honoured with the title of Datuk. Consequently, patrons like Edwin are not only paying for the delectable chicken rice but also for the prestige associated with the owner's Datukship and the high-quality cuisine served at the establishment.

Datuk Wong is seen as a one-man show who does almost everything by himself. From marinating the meat to roasting and eventually chopping. As such, the king deserves to have his throne, doesn&rsquo;t he?

Located at a humble Pudu, it opens daily for three hours only during the lunch peak hours except Monday. So, can you imagine how crowded it will be and how long will the queue be when only three hours are available to have your chicken rice moment?

Jaw-Dropping Chicken Rice Bill Leaves M’sian Diner Speechless!

In the past few weeks, Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has become a prominent topic on social media. Historically, MAS has been renowned for its exceptional hospitality and service, often considered one of the finest among Malaysia's domestic airlines.
Frequent travellers, whether within the country or abroad, have typically preferred MAS for their air travel. Nevertheless, the airline has recently faced negative attention due to extensive critique of its in-flight dining options.

For those who might not be aware, the airline has ended its long-standing partnership with Brahim's Holdings Bhd, which had been its in-flight caterer for more than 25 years, making the end of terrible in-flight meals as they have been subjected to heavy criticism. While the plan was to transition to MAS Awana, their subsidiary catering service, the process has encountered some challenges.

MAS X AirAsia Santan?

Recently, Tony Fernandes, the CEO of Capital A, has expressed interest in a potential partnership between AirAsia's subsidiary airline caterer, Santan, and Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) to offer in-flight meals. He also mentioned his openness to a joint venture with MAG for the acquisition of the remaining 70% stake in Brahim's Food Service (BFS) Sdn Bhd.
&ldquo;If AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines work together, we could make so much business together. That kitchen can go to Thailand, it can go everywhere,&rdquo; he stated.
This proposal for a joint venture may have arisen in response to the criticism MAS received regarding its in-flight food offerings. Passengers on certain flights were advised to "Bring Your Own Food," and currently, only specific routes provide meal options. Short-haul flights receive pre-packaged meals, while long-haul flights receive revised meal offerings.

Nonetheless, Fernandes indicated that the feasibility of this partnership would be contingent on the cost of acquiring the 70% stake in Brahim's. He expressed reservations about the RM129 million price, excluding any goodwill, as he found it to be somewhat excessive. Furthermore, he mentioned that Capital A had already expressed interest in having Santan collaborate with MAS long before the MAS-Brahim partnership concluded. Additionally, he challenged the perception that BFS held a monopoly in the airline catering industry, asserting that there were numerous other viable options in the market.
Is Santan The Best Choice For Airline Catering?

Given the relatively limited options available, Santan appears to meet the criteria as a suitable company to assist in catering for MAS. There are several compelling reasons for this, including their prior experience in catering for AirAsia flights and their widespread franchise stores across Asia, which bolsters their reputation as a dependable company. Additionally, Santan boasts an extensive menu, and numerous netizens have voiced their opinion that Santan's in-flight cuisine ranks among the most flavourful airline meals in Southeast Asia.

While we previously covered an article in which a Chinese tourist expressed their dissatisfaction with AirAsia's Pak Nasser's Nasi Lemak, claiming it tasted poor, it's worth noting that this is just one of several instances where individuals have had less than satisfactory experiences.

Having personally sampled a variety of meals provided by Santan on flights, I can attest that they are quite delicious. I would particularly recommend the 'Thai Basil Chicken with Rice' and their 'Bukhara Chicken Biryani,' both of which offer a satisfying burst of flavours, ensuring a fulfilling in-flight dining experience.
While the prospect of MAS enlisting Santan as their meal provider seems promising, there remains a question regarding the suitability of Santan's offerings for Business and First-Class passengers, who may have different culinary expectations during their flights.

Like, who could ever replace MAS&rsquo;s iconic Satay in-flight meal which till now stands as one of the best options ever served by the airlines.
