When we talk war, it&rsquo;s known for a fact that it can really cripple the economy of a country.
One of them being Russia as they had invaded Ukraine causing many international brands to pull out of the country such as Starbucks and even McDonalds.

Although brands pulled out, one fast food chain was set to return in the country and that is McDonalds. It was bought over by Alexander Govor who is a businessman who&rsquo;s one of the franchisee since 2015 and had grown his wealth from coal mining.

The name change was officially announced on Sunday 12 June during Russia day as Russia celebrated their independence. Now the famous fast-food outlet is known as Vkusno &amp; tochka which quite literally means &ldquo;tasty&rdquo;.
Not only did it get a new name, but it also got a new logo which supposedly resembles a burger and two fries. Aside from that, a new slogan came with it too. &ldquo;The name changes, love stays&rdquo;.

As Russia currently strives into showing how successful the Russian economy is after being more self-sufficient. By the looks of it, it seems that they don&rsquo;t seem to be effected by the Western sanctions.

Since the reopening, many people flocked to queue outside the new outlet. But although how popular if a name was back in the past, Russians didn&rsquo;t seem to have made the umbers such as the fist turn up of McDonalds in Russia.

The flagship store which is located in Moscow is among 15 rebranded outlets which opened around the capital on Sunday.
There&rsquo;s plans on reopening another 200 more restaurants in Russia by end of June and by the end of summer, all 850 outlets should be reopened and back for business.
Same menu, but smaller and cheaper

While Vkusno &amp; tochka&rsquo;s menu was mainly the same as the original McDonalds, some signature foods were not on offer.
Some burgers including the Big Mac and some desserts such as the McFlurry were not available. But overall, the menu now smaller and cheaper.
A double cheese burger was going for 129 roubles (~RM9.98) compared to 160 roubles (~RM12.38) when under McDonalds. The Filet O&rsquo; Fish burger also went down in price to 169 roubles (~RM13.07) in comparison to 190 roubles (~RM14.70).
No sacrifices were made when making the burgers as the equipment from the original McDonalds had also remained.
How&rsquo;s the packaging and taste?
Unfortunately, the packaging for the products is not ready yet and customers were served in plain white packages and plain brown bags.
The taste of the food is exactly the same too which doesn&rsquo;t seem like much of a loss.

As for the sauces, well&hellip; they were still using the old McDonald&rsquo;s sauces but with their packaging having the McDonalds logo being crossed off with a black marker.

All in all, were Russians happy that the fast-food outlet is back?
In short, yes. Most consumers gave a warm welcome during the reopening and I&rsquo;m sure most wouldn&rsquo;t complain since prices for it is now lower.
And then there was this one man who held a sign wanting for the franchise to bring back the Big Mac.

Well, it looks like Russia is technically doing ok considering the fact that many international brands pulled out from the country. Now to properly see the market and how long will their economy last or how it will do for the next coming years since the cold war is not over yet.

What was meant to be a joyous getaway turned into a harrowing experience when several individuals fell violently ill after indulging in a lok lok feast at Genting Sempah, Pahang. She and a group of 36 friends had rented villas for a three-day, two-night retreat near the Pahang-Selangor border. During their stay, they noticed a well-known lok lok (skewered food) truck serving guests at a neighbouring villa. Intrigued by the sight, they decided to book the same service for their celebration the following evening, paying RM2,000 for a meal meant for 40 people.
From Feast to Food Poisoning in Hours

The meal commenced at 6 PM on 1st February, and the group eagerly tucked in, expecting a delightful dining experience. However, just four hours later, disaster struck. More than ten people in the group began suffering from extreme vomiting and diarrhoea&mdash;undeniable signs of food poisoning. As the night progressed, the severity of the symptoms escalated, and by morning, two members had to be rushed to the hospital for intravenous drips, while others sought treatment at nearby clinics.
The repercussions of the incident went beyond health issues. Several group members were forced to take sick leave from work, while children attending international schools had to miss classes. The financial burden from medical expenses, combined with lost productivity, only added to their distress.
A Struggle for Accountability

Determined to seek justice, Joey contacted the food truck company, requesting a full refund of RM2,000 and additional reimbursement of RM3,375 for medical expenses incurred by the group. However, her efforts were met with denial and deflection. The company refused to take responsibility, instead shifting the blame onto the driver, claiming that he had accepted the booking independently without official company authorisation.
Joey was not convinced by this explanation. She had personally witnessed the driver calling the company to confirm the booking before proceeding. Adding to her suspicions, she pointed out that the food truck that arrived for their event was different from the one they had initially seen at the neighbouring villa.
In a further attempt to absolve itself, the company suggested that the food poisoning might have resulted from something the group had consumed earlier in the day. However, Joey quickly dismissed this claim. She explained that the group had split into five separate clusters throughout the day, each eating different meals&mdash;with some even skipping lunch entirely&mdash;yet every single person who ate the lok lok that evening fell ill.
A Wider Food Safety Concern

&ldquo;If this particular lok lok truck had been operating at a pasar malam, how many more people would have gotten food poisoning? Would they also blame it on other food and let the matter go?&rdquo; she asked.
She did not hold back in criticising the company&rsquo;s handling of the situation, calling their response &ldquo;irresponsible&rdquo; and highlighting the gravity of food poisoning incidents.
&ldquo;Food poisoning is not something to take lightly. I am sharing this publicly to put pressure on the business because of their irresponsibility and lack of concern for hygiene. I can accept the financial loss, but what I want is empathy,&rdquo; she wrote.

This incident underscores the urgent need for stricter food safety regulations to safeguard public health. Food truck operators must be held to high hygiene standards in food handling, storage, and preparation to prevent such harmful occurrences.
